The renewed invigoration toward Nike Tennis footwear is exciting. For years we exclaimed “Nobody cares about tennis.” So now that it’s clear that people are starting to “care about tennis,” we can rejoice. Carlos Alcaraz’s US Open comeback may have ended in that epic quarter-final night battle with Ben Shelton, but it was also a moment to celebrate the game’s biggest young star, back under the lights, talent intact, and dressed for the occasion. His basketball-inspired looks came courtesy of @nike collaboration with Travis Scott’s @cactusjack brand. In 2015 Nike released the Air Tech Challenge III “Hot Lime” with the return of the ICONIC @tom.andrich Flaming Tennis Ball logo adorning the heel. Then in 2020, @nikesportswear did a deep dive and released an official Department of Nike Archives reissue of select 1990 Challenge Court collection pieces. • Yes. This is like the hot dogs and buns quandary. The timing and amounts don’t align. But if you were around for both, you’re in a good place. In 2020, they even went so far as to reissue the headbands, which was a nice Period Correct touch, that we know @kevonmylevel appreciated more than most. • Where were you when all this went down in 2015 and 2020? Did the excitement hit you? Did you have to proxy for some friends? Did you go hard or sit by and watch it all pass you by? Did you sleep and regret it now? Or were you a 2015 Air Flare go HAM? 😏

There are things in life that could be done. Things that should be done. And things that must be done. 🏁 • The Nike Air Zoom Schu was one of the “must” ones. I’ve always chased the obscure — the limited, the rare, the stuff that never gets a re-release. This is a one-and-only signature model for F1 legend Michael Schumacher. He had collab colorways on the Zoom Turf and Super Zoom before this — but the Zoom Schu was his alone. No shared canvas. No teammate. Just Schu. • Full disclosure: I’m not even a die-hard F1 guy. What I respect is Driving at the highest level, at its rawest form. I’ve been a BMW M owner several times over, and a Driving enthusiast for decades — German engineering, a German driver — so maybe this interest was inevitable. 🇩🇪 • Some pairs you chase. 2016 was a year to remember for the 90’s Nike Tennis enthusiasts. The Air Tech Challenge (IV) 3/4 saw a Retro treatment in the OG Cerise colorway along with a couple re-imagined colorways.
