POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I still remember some of my very first TV appearances… and let’s just say, they were memorable for reasons I’d rather forget.

I showed up confident in my nutrition knowledge and completely clueless about everything else.

Flowered blouse. Dangling earrings catching the store lighting. Soundbites that sounded more like a textbook than a conversation.

Nobody pulled me aside to give guidance. There was no roadmap. I learned by doing, by stumbling, and yes, by watching the playback wishing I could do the segment all over again.

Those experiences never left me. And eventually, they became part of the reason I wrote Louder Than Likes: How to Amplify Your Expertise and Make Media Work for You.

In this week’s episode of the Media Savvy podcast, I’m sharing the full story: why I wrote the book, what’s inside, and why I believe visibility isn’t a personality trait — it’s a skill. And skills can be learned.

We talk about the four R’s: Recognition, Reach, Revenue, and Results, and what it really looks like to build a media presence that actually goes somewhere.

Not just posting and hoping. Not just showing up and winging it. A real strategy built around who YOU are.

This episode is personal. And if you’ve ever felt like your expertise is stuck inside you instead of reaching the people who need it most, this one is for you.

🎧 Listen to Media Savvy wherever you listen to or watch podcasts.

And if you grab the book, DM me or email mediasavvybtd@gmail.com with your proof of purchase and I’ll send you my exclusive companion workbook designed to help you uncover the strengths that make your voice one of a kind.

Have you ever had a cringe-worthy media moment that taught you something? Tell me below. I read every comment. 🙋🏻‍♀️

In honor of #nationalnutritionmonth I’m sharing the required pre-req courses in order to complete a dietetics program.

Becoming a dietitian isn’t easy. It takes years of studying, long nights of hard work, clinical training, and the determination to keep going even when it feels overwhelming. There are exams, internships, and constant learning along the way. But every challenge is worth it, because one day all that effort turns into the ability to help people heal, nourish their bodies, and live healthier lives. The journey is tough, but the purpose behind it makes every step meaningful.

You’ve been on TV. Quoted in a magazine. Podcasted about town. And yes, it felt amazing…until you realized your bank account didn’t get the memo.

Here’s the truth: being in the media is great for your ego, but ego doesn’t pay the bills. What actually matters is knowing how to turn exposure into real income.

In this Media Savvy Podcast episode, From Media to Money: Turning Influence into Income 💸I break down:

💰 Why paying random PR firms won’t get you paid — but your own strategy will. You should be paid for media…not paying for placements!

💴 How media is just the front door — you have to step inside to find consulting gigs, webinars, recipes, speaking opportunities, and more waiting for you

💵 The secret to repurposing one feature into multiple revenue streams (yes, even if you don’t have a huge following)

🤑Behind-the-scenes roles that pay — like content consulting, recipe creation or helping brands with messaging

💰 How to spot opportunities you didn’t even realize were money-makers

No fluff. No guesswork. No gimmicks. Just clear, actionable insights on how to make your media work for your business — not just your ego. 🌟

🎧 Listen now and learn how to finally get paid for your expertise, not just your exposure. DM me MEDIA and I’ll share my tips for turning media appearances into income.

Still feeling grateful for the meaningful conversations sparked at this weekend’s Today’s Dietitian Symposium. The room was full, the dialogue was honest, and I’m truly touched by the thoughtful responses and connection we shared.

We talked about the tough stuff—compensation, recognition, burnout. But we also talked about what’s possible when dietitians are supported, seen, and encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and tap into their creative sides.

This wasn’t just a presentation…it was a call to protect, elevate, and reimagine a profession I’ve loved for decades.

Because here’s what I believe:
You became a dietitian for a reason. And that reason wasn’t to feel stuck, unseen, or underpaid.
You deserve to do work that lights you up—and yes, you deserve to be paid well for it.

And if media is calling your name, I hope you’ll answer.

You already have the knowledge. You’ve done the work.

What you might need now is the courage—and a little strategy—to step into the spotlight.

If that’s you, I’d love to help.
Write MEDIA in the comments and I’ll
for the only course you’ll need.

Hey — you became a dietitian for a reason. And I’ll bet it wasn’t to feel stuck, unseen, undervalued, or underpaid.

But way too many of you are feeling that way.

That’s why I’m giving a talk at this year’s Today’s Dietitian Symposium called:
“How to Ditch Dietitian Dissatisfaction and Make the Most of Your Career.”

You know I believe media can help you amplify your voice — but that’s just one way to create the career you deserve.

Let’s talk about how to build more personal, professional, and yes — financial satisfaction in the work you do.

I’ll show you how to make it happen.

Let’s continue this conversation — comment below if you’ve ever felt this way in your career.

There is more opportunity than ever for dietitians to work in 1:1 counseling roles, and the @allaccessdietitians Private Practice Fellowship is helping bridge the training gap for more RDs to work in this setting!

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐎𝐖𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐲 ✅️

⭐️ They have 21 fellows who started this past spring/summer. There is an option for full time work if interested (please mention in application).

⏰️ Must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours of nutrition consult availability per week. Option to do weekend and evening hour availability to keep your day job.

🚨 They are doing rolling admissions and expect to fill 25 spots for this next cohort by the end of November, so submit your application as soon as possible!

🇺🇸 Open to dietitians in the United States.

P.S. Unfortunately, they are unable to hire applicants that live in California during the fellowship. There are extensive labor laws, regulations, and compliance requirements to hire California residents. Because they are a small business, they cannot handle the financial, legal, and operational costs at this time. They hope that as the fellowship grows that this changes in the future!

`°• highlights from attending FNCE 2024 last week !!

🥘 For those who are not familiar, FNCE (Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo) is the world's largest gathering of food and nutrition experts hosted by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, with events like:

1) Research information sessions/updates 📰
2) Exhibitors tabling at the Expo booths 🪑
3) RD exam and networking resources 🧑‍🏫
4) Workshops 🧰
5) Poster presentations 📜
6) Internship fair to meet potential dietetic internship and graduate school options 👩‍🎓
7) Opportunities to volunteer and help out at the conference as a student host (which is what I signed up for)! :) 🎗

✨️ I had such an amazing time meeting students from other schools, learning about emerging research in food & nutrition fields and professional practices, and running into some of my favorite dietitians that I look up to.

🫂 Even more thankful to have enjoyed the experience with the company of my mom as a first-time FNCE attendant!
