O T T E R • We believe he is asking you to like this post.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Otters have some interesting relatives. Otters are part of the Mustelidae family, which is a family of carnivorous mammals that includes skunks, weasels, wolverines, and badgers. The sea otter is the largest member of the weasel family, yet the smallest marine mammal in North America.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Most sea otters call Alaska home. Approximately 90 percent of the world’s sea otters live in coastal Alaska. Many live in the waters surrounding public lands including Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, Kenai Fjords National Park, and Glacier Bay National Park. Southern sea otters range along the mainland coastline of California from San Mateo County to Santa Barbara County, and San Nicolas Island.

W A P I T I • Dem majectic antlers⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Wapiti (WAH-pe-tee) are usually called “elk” in North America. Because that name is used in Europe for a different animal (which is called a moose in North America), it is less confusing to call these beautiful deer by their Shawnee (Native American) name. Wapiti spend most of their lives in family groups (females and offspring) and form large herds of 100 or more during late fall and winter. A male wapiti's antlers will grow as long as 1.8 meters (6 feet) and weigh as much as 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Adult males weigh an average of 315 kilograms (700 pounds), and stand 1.5 meters (5 feet) at the shoulder.

L Y N X • Shadow of the forest! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The unique-looking tufts on the ears enhance hearing. Thanks to an excellent sense of hearing, lynx can easily locate the prey. Lynx has a sharp vision, which is another important sense that is used for hunting. Lynx is able to detect a mouse from a distance of 250 feet. This makes the Lynx a perfect predator! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #Lynx #Cats #Beautiful #fortheloveofanimals #wildlifepreservation #savethewild #allanimalsmatter #allgodscreatures #animalsmatter #bekindtoallkinds #bekindtoeverykind #compassionforanimals #helptheanimals #endanimalabuse #protectearth #savealltheanimals #compassionovercruelty #freetheanimals #animalequality #protectwildlife #animallivesmatter #animalprotection #animalsarefriends #loveallanimals #savewildlife #preservation #endangeredspecies #animalwelfare
