🎤💚 GOOD PEOPLE, GREAT SCIENCE, AND A WHOLE LOT OF TALKING ABOUT VOICES!

Salt Lake City, you were SO good to us! 🏔️✨

Another incredible PAVA Symposium is in the books, and I’m heading home with a full heart, a slightly exhausted brain, and so much excitement about the future of our field!

One of my favorite things about being part of the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA) is getting to connect with people who are just as passionate (and nerdy 🤓) about the human voice as I am.

From fascinating conversations about voice science, singing voice rehabilitation, vocal health, and voice pedagogy to reconnecting with colleagues, meeting new friends, and learning from some truly brilliant minds, this weekend was a reminder of why I love what I do.

As a singing voice rehabilitation specialist and voice teacher, I’m constantly reminded that our work is better when we collaborate across disciplines, challenge our thinking, and stay curious. 🧠🎶

But beyond the research, presentations, and professional development, it’s the PEOPLE who make this community so special. ❤️

I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships, mentorship, laughter, late-night conversations, and opportunities that have come from being part of PAVA. And getting to help support this organization as a member of its Board of Directors makes it even more meaningful.

Of course, there was also plenty of good food, sightseeing, ridiculous selfies, and some absolutely breathtaking music along the way! 😂🎵

Until next time, PAVA! Thanks for another unforgettable symposium. 💚

📸 Swipe through for a little photo dump of some of my favorite moments from Salt Lake City!

👇 To my fellow voice nerds: What was your favorite moment from this year’s symposium?

Yesterday was like something out of a dream, and I’m still processing. 🥹
It was the end of semester recital for my students, which is always one of my favorite days of the year anyway, but some of the moms teamed up and threw a surprise baby shower. 😭 Each student, before they sang, shared some words of encouragement, a memory, funny story, or poem they wrote, then put it all in a box for Matthew and I to keep. Truly so so special. I’ll never forget it.

To all of you who made yesterday happen: “Thank you” feels insufficient. Matthew and I are truly humbled. We often laugh and say we hope we can live up to the expectations people have of us being great parents, because we feel beyond undeserving of the gifts we have received in each of you. 😭😭😭

Yesterday was Mother’s Day, and these moms spent yesterday celebrating their kids’ hard work and me becoming a mom—not themselves. I am not only so thankful, honored, and touched, but truly humbled, and am so blessed to have these women as role models of the beauty of motherhood.

Special shoutout to Katie Zell Kelley, Tessa J, Spy Chrissie Yeh, and Amy Garner — I can’t thank all of you enough. You never let me go without feeling celebrated and supported. I could not do this crazy theatre business life without you. Matthew and I are so lucky to have all of you in our lives. Baby girl is so extremely lucky. We love you! 🌈💛

Today is my last day teaching private lessons before I go on maternity leave. Tomorrow is my student recital.
One week of tech and shows for Amelie, but starting next Sunday, I will be done until baby girl makes her arrival! (Don’t worry — bestie is still checking her email every day until then and AMCS doesn’t operate without AMC!)
The strangest, most bittersweet feeling.
I’ve had the absolute honor of getting to mentor so many young lives over the last few years. Anytime someone says I will be a good mom, I reply that it’s only because of the parents who let me practice on their kids first.
I am in my feels — a chapter is ending — but a new one is beginning, and I could not be more grateful.
💛💛💛

oh rosie how i adored playing you.

mamma mia being my final wakefield mainstage was such a dream to find out! i will miss all these fantastic people, some new, some not, who put in so much time and effort, making it an incredible show. costume designing for this show had me terribly stressed but it truly was so worth it seeing everything come together perfectly. i’m going to miss my favorite underclassmen, but i hope the rest of you continue doing theatre and trust me i will be there to support you, just in the audience this time. wakefield theatre has done so much for me and i recognize how much of a blessing in disguise it was after coming in freshman year. anyways not to be corny or sappy I LOVE Y’ALL!!!!!! can’t wait for matilda jr 😛
