Thanks to @themasters for our first #tasteofthemasters experience! My brother @revgeorgelinney enjoys the badges on the even years, so Mama and I decided to host a watch party this year. Egg salad, pimento cheese, and barbecue plus all the other snacks were excellent! Time with these wonderful friends was even better!! #themasters

We had so much fun celebrating my niece Kathryn’s graduation from high school in May. Last month she joined the @furmanuniversity family. I can feel Daddy smiling because the granddaughter he adored chose his alma mater. My aunt Lloyd, brother George, and sister-in-law Kristen are also Paladins. As Daddy used to sing, “if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands!”

I had the very best time with my dates for the Albemarle Charlottesville NAACP Freedom Fund banquet last night! The keynote speaker @senatorlouiselucas took us to school and the audience was riveted by an incredible leader who was one of the first women to graduate from the apprentice program at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, where she became its first female shipfitter in 1971. She made us laugh and reminded us over and over and over again that we must always get out the vote!!! 🗳️🇺🇸#naacp @naacp_albemarlecharlottesville

Thanks to @pippinhillfarm for helping me to wish @uvatech a happy belated birthday last month! We were in the same dorm at @uva as first years and have been doing life together ever since. Her #BarrettBoyz are my godsons and are now adulting in Alaska, Northern Virginia, and Richmond. Tomorrow night we’ll celebrate the great work of @arcpiedmont.va and Tuesday, Mama and I get to meet the new Barrett puppy. #lifeisgood #uva

The weekend before Thanksgiving, Mama and I got to go back to Broadway. We hadn’t been since October 2019 when we saw Jeff Daniels in To Kill a Mockingbird. She took me to see my first show, Cats, for my 16th birthday in 1988 and there have been so many trips and shows in the years since then (lucky us). She hadn’t been on a plane since January of 2020 when she visited Charlottesville for the last time as a Charlotte resident. Little did we know that just two months later, we’d have to navigate the pandemic or that four years later she’d be living in Charlottesville. We saw a trio of shows that was for sure our most favorite combination ever in terms of depth, breadth, diversity, tears of sadness, tears of joy, and a whole lot of, “OMG we can’t believe we got these tickets all in one long weekend!” We stayed in our favorite Times Square hotel (thank you, Westin) and I also got to introduce her to one of my favorite Italian restaurants (thank you, @santambroeus SoHo). Our cup runneth over, and we hope the same is true for all of you if not today, then one day in the future. Holidays can be so hard for those of us who are navigating PTSD, grieving, or depressed, but sometimes they can also be very healing. If you’re in the valley of a tough time right now, know that we’re sending light your way and that we feel the light coming our way from so many friends and family around the world. Love, Allison and Barbara @purliebway @abeautifulnoisemusical @mtc_nyc Jaja’s African Hair Braiding!!
