✨ CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF RIMYI

50 years ago today, on 19 January 1975, the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) opened its doors for the first time…

The heart and soul of Iyengar yoga, it is dedicated to BKS Iyengar’s wife and is place of pilgrimage for thousands of yoga practitioners from around the world.

There is a great significance behind the unique design of RIMYI. The three floors represent the body, mind and soul. Its height is 71 feet and has 8 columns which represent the eight limbs of yoga - yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana and samadhi.

🎞️ In this video we share a selection of precious memories of our time at RIMYI, from the early 80’s right up to more recent times, as submitted by some of the Australian Iyengar yoga students and teachers, to celebrate our link to RIMYI, and commemorate all the enriching and transformative experiences we’ve shared at the Institute over the last 5 decades!
