Analysis of
- Bodies Of Christ -
Indoor Portraiture (2018)
.
A year has passed since we have made this image and it still brings me great pleasure to showcase this piece to people who seeks to understand it.
.
The original concept was to shoot @shernoprob baring her back for a #Renaissance like photo.
-
It later evolved to the #biblical theme of the image of #Christ.
-
Add @allson_ng
Into the equation and the concept becomes 'Bodies Of Christ'
-
The cloth was essentially used to replicate the tunic said to have been worn by Christ prior to his #crucifixion
-
I was also obsessed with Peter Steele's lyrics of 'Christian Woman' where it goes "Corpus Christi (Body Of Christ)"at that time and still am
.
The deeper meanings behind this image are
i) the new #commandment - John 13:34
ii) the acceptance of #LGBT human bodies into the #Church
iii) the ultimate truth that #Jesus saves
.
I did not know about #Caravaggio at the time of producing this image
But @kelvinmusetattoo
Had mentioned years before, that my lighting style is #Chiaroscuro
This is mainly achieved with my frequently used single lightsource set up
.
I later went to study these #paintings briefly until I took a serious look at the #painters and their #history
.
It seems that I have been practising #caravaggism all these while and it's fascinating to know about this painter who left us almost no notes due to the nature of his premature #death
-
He painted light so real,
That we can easily replicate some of his scenes with off camera lightings
-
I have developed various secret techniques while studying his painting analyses through recorded interpretations of various curators and connoisseurs
-
I have also created a key light modifier through my study and I will be creating more variants of the lighting modifiers to replicate his intricate lightings and shadows with delicate authenticity
.
He was a genius of his time.
And I am a genius of mine.
.
I sent this image to be printed on #canvas
And I was told that the printing specialist kept a copy
.
I am moving forward to produce more of such portraits
.
If I were to die young,
I'm sure they will be remembered as well

I have been thinking of phobias lately. And particularly socially induced ones. I came across #trypophobia —an aversion to the sight of irregular patterns or clusters of small holes or bumps. Initially I thought that phobia like this is rather improbable.
I used to and I generally continue thinking of myself as someone who doesn’t have phobias.
However spending hours editing the series I felt some sort of discomfort associated with the images. So induced phobias are apparently real. Or at least certain images combined with imagination and experience have an influence.
Tell me, do you feel any discomfort looking at this?
