Season one of rugby league: complete 🏉

This season in highlights:

‘Learnt’ an entirely new sport, managed a squad of 43 players plus a few, and navigated a steep learning curve of new systems and processes along the way

Moved back to NSW and did the Wollongong–Sydney drive more times than I can count

Copped endless jokes from the coaches and players for still learning the rugby league lingo (fair play)

Got mistaken for a player far too many times. Not complaining.

The best part of the season though… getting to bring my passion for female athlete health into the work, and actually part of how I show up for the squad. That’s the bit that made it worth it.

Grateful to the team for the patience and the banter, and to the staff for trusting me with the opportunity to share my knowledge with this group 🤍🐯

Different grind. Same standard. From foundation to elite, we build athletes, not just players. Speed. Strength. Skill. Mindset. No shortcuts. Just work.

The extra work always shows.
The ones who show up when it’s quiet…
Are the ones who shine when it’s loud. 🔥🏐

Shoutout to our partners at @gilbertnetball for backing the work.

We first discovered Tiana West playing in the Harvey Norman competition with the Newcastle Knights — and from the very first conversation, we knew she had something special.

After careful discussion, EXCEL Sports were proud and fortunate to welcome Tiana into our elite pathways program.

Since then, her journey has gone from strength to strength. Tiana moved into the Illawarra Steelers Harvey Norman system, where she spent two seasons developing her craft as a lock, cementing herself as a genuine elite prospect.

Through commitment, discipline, and the collective efforts of her teammates, Tiana was part of the 2025 Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership championship team under coach Jamie Scissorbank — a huge achievement and testament to her growth as an athlete.

We are now excited to announce that Tiana West will be amongst the new recruits in the Penrith Panthers Harvey Norman Women’s Programme, continuing her rise toward the highest level of the game.

Well and truly on her way to an NRLW career.
