The ladies of @ladythefup have been putting in WORK this month.

Between holiday parties, school concerts, Christmas shopping, and Elf on the Shelf duties… life is full.

But despite the chaos and the calendar being packed, they’re still choosing themselves.

They’re showing up.
They’re staying consistent.
They’re proving that progress doesn’t pause just because it’s a busy season.

This is what commitment looks like, not perfection, not “waiting for the right time,” but doing what you can, where you are.

Drop a 🔥 if you’re doing this too

I’ve been drawn to the idea of picking a year defining event that shapes the rest of your year.

2024 began with a desire to understand what creativity means to me and the role I want it to play in my life. In exploring these questions, I stumbled upon Idea Camp here on this little app, which later led me to Canada alongside a group of strangers for what became a year-defining experience in September.

Input: 17 strangers on a remote island in BC.

Output: A burst of creative exploration, permission to play, and a deeply enriching community of curious, talented, and enlivening women.

Both the build-up and aftermath of this experience fueled so much artistic exploration throughout 2024 and simplified an innate desire to cultivate a creative life—simply through making things + carving out space to do so.

It’s led to finding more art in the day to day and bringing more of my creative self into areas such as work and community.

To each of the women I shared this experience with: I’ll carry your joy, wisdom, and silliness with me well beyond this year.

Cheers to the world we created on that little island and all the memories & ideas to come💡

Last summer I spent 5 days on an island in the middle of nowhere, making art with a bunch of strangers, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. From hiking to Ahous Bay🌊(aka wahoo slay!!), to making up songs around the campfire🔥 to wiggling on the floor during a dance party💃 I was never not smiling. (My cheeks were hurting all the time lol) When I first found out about @twotoesco I knew I was in for a good time but I had no idea how much I would learn from each one of these unique and incredible women. I’ll always remember to incorporate their teachings in both my creative process and day to day life. @kikamack and @talaschlossberg have created something truly remarkable with TwoToes, something I’m sure everyone needs in this world and I for one cannot wait to see what they’ll do next in their mission to spread mindfulness, creativity, compassion, positivity, friendship, and love etc, to everyone they meet❤️

I hope to see you island girlies again real soon🥰🏝️

Now that I’ve fully had time to think about it, I need to tell you about the most incredible September memory. @twotoesco ‘s Idea Camp brought 17 artists together on a quiet island in Canada to make things, enrich each other’s lives, and revel in the beauty of the space we were waking up in. I think my cheeks still hurt from laughing and it is an experience I think about daily. I am inspired by every woman on that trip and feel so beyond lucky that Tala and Kika wanted me to join and shoot it. Learned sooooo much, ate sooooo good, laughed soooo hard, and still loving soooo much.

Welcome Pierre! He is joining us for a 3 week board and train to complete his off leash obedience training with the e collar, as well as to overcome some unwanted barking.

He arrived on Tuesday night and after a couple days to decompress and settle in with us, he had his first official training outing today. Before we introduce the e collar, we usually teach/practice commands like recall and heel on a long line.

However, Pierre tends to follow behind his handler, making things like practicing recall difficult. So, I wanted to start by building up his confidence to explore. I brought Rouge along as my assistant to help encourage Pierre to move more freely away from me. Having Rouge there brought out some confidence in Pierre and he made the choice to walk ahead for a good part of our hike.

Pretty different from alot of dogs, who need no encouragement to explore and lots of encouragement to stay with you. We are loving getting to know this smart, sensitive, and capable dog already! Stay tuned for updates on his training.
