Sara Joy Gillbeau (@sarajoy.creates) has been a weaver of lyric and song since childhood. Classically trained in opera and piano, her journey eventually led her to rediscover music as a vehicle for true healing, using vocalization, sacred sound, and vibration as medicine.

She now writes songs from the depths of her being – weaving threads of mantra, devotional harmonies, and medicine music. In addition to sound, she expresses her artistry through traditional fiber arts like felting, spinning, knitting, and weaving, allowing songs to emerge in shared creative circles.

She is also a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a Colon Hydrotherapist, and a Hatha Yoga teacher.

We are thrilled to welcome Colombian singer-songwriter, international educator, and vocal guide Sophya @almaconvoz to the Song of the Earth facilitator team!

🌊 Resonant Bodies of Water: Vocal Embodiment & Fluid Expression

Sophya will lead us through an immersive water-element practice—a somatic journey into vocal resonance, fluidity, and emotional releasing. By weaving voice activation with the element of water, she creates a sacred container to help us melt tension and tap into intuitive expression.

✨ Meet Sophya:

With over 15 years as a master teacher, international vocalist, and creator of albums like Medicine Woman and Canto a Tierra, Sophya brings incredible depth to our circle. Her background spans contemporary jazz, Latin American rhythms, and Indian Classical Raga, centering on music as a vessel for self-healing and connection.

🌎 An Invitation:

Song of the Earth is a 4-day retreat where we’ll explore the voice as a pathway to healing, creativity, & connection with the living Earth. Together, we’ll gather for daily voice, movement, and embodiment practices, along with silent time communing with nature, and creating our own songs for, and of, the Earth.

We’ll be nourished throughout with organic, home-cooked vegan meals set within a private 30-acre sanctuary in the Sierra Nevada foothills, featuring a three-acre swimming lake, hot tub, and elemental temples.

📍 Grass Valley, CA

📅 October 23–26, 2026

🎟️ Tier 1 Pricing ends tomorrow, Sept 22!

In these times of deep shedding and decomposition, we are called to release outdated patterns and ways of being that no longer serve us, and to step into the elevated consciousness of connectivity. This transformational journey, led by the ancestral wisdom of our indigenous Mazateca elder Maestra Alejandrina and the ndi xhito (mushrooms), offers an opportunity for deep healing, renewal and empowered emergence. With the guidance of the Maestra, we will have the opportunity to connect with these ancestral teachings and healing rituals that have been passed down through generations. It is truly an honor and a blessing to have this rare opportunity to receive the medicine from an indigenous lineage, and to study the Mazateca culture and tradition.

The retreat includes the following:
- Cacao circle
- Chicha & song circle
- 1 traditional indigenous Mazateca plant medicine ceremony
- 1 traditional sweat lodge/temazcal ceremony
- 1 private healing session with Maestra
- Mazateca cosmovision workshop
- Flower baths
- Dances of Peace
- Meditation
- Integration & sharing circle
- Meals
- Lodging (shared or private)
- Access to pool, jacuzzi, sauna, cold plunge and trail rides
- Safe space, community, love and healing

About Maestra
Maestra Alejandrina Pedro Castañeda is a Mazateca curandera (healer), cultural guardian and elder from Huatla de Jimenez, Oaxaca, Mexico. She works with ndi xhito, the mushrooms, as well as doing auratherapies, traditional egg readings and cultural life-way teachings of her people.

Maestra Alejandrina is currently undertaking multiple projects in her home village to support her people. She is in the process of building an orphanage for homeless Mazateca youth. She also has a dream of building an indigenous school to preserve ancient Mazateca spiritual technologies, language, cultural wisdom, and healing traditions. The funds from this retreat will go to supporting Maestra’s cultural projects to help her people.
