How Life Out There uses creative captioning is quite special: 👉Captioned dialogue embedded into the set 👉content on the back wall to provide an insight into the sound world In the words of video & caption designer SR, “the aim is to provide access, both to the spoken dialogue and the sonic world of the show.” Join us 🔗

‘The King Stone - Talking Bench’ A place to listen. A place to leave something behind. I loved working on this project so much! Designed & dressed by @gckdesigns Constructed by @mattg3767 Produced by @eviemfosbon Audio by @runningcirclerecords ‘Introducing the talking bench bench: a new interactive community art project that invites people to pause, listen to recorded stories of resilience, and leave a message of encouragement for the next person who sits there. One of those recorded stories is from Alex Harrison, pictured here. He works at @toughenoughtocare; a Derbyshire-based men’s mental health charity. Alex has been instrumental to the development of the Talking Bench, sharing his lived experience of anxiety and depression. He now works tirelessly with Tough Enough to Care to challenge the “man up” stigma in male-dominated spaces. Co-created with local community groups, the Talking Bench launches in the Midlands this February alongside The King Stone production. It starts at Mansfield Museum on 10 Feb, before ending at Normanton Library in Derby @dtcommunities on 8 March. Community consultants include time2talkmentalwealth2023 and @mindscapes_peersupport

It’s hard to put this one into words. King Stone wasn’t just another show. It was something deeper. Something raw. Something honest. Every night Charlotte and Calum stood on that stage and told stories that aren’t easy to hear — stories about suicide, sexual abuse, pain, silence, and the darkness that so many people carry but rarely feel able to talk about. And somehow, together, they turned a theatre into a safe space. You could feel it in the room. The quiet moments. The tears. The conversations that happened afterwards. People opening up. People feeling seen. People finding the courage to say things they’d never said out loud before. That’s the real power of this project. This show didn’t just tell a story — it gave people permission to speak about their own. And hearing that it helped people open up, helped people feel less alone… even helped save lives… is something I will carry with me forever. I’m incredibly sad that it’s come to an end. But what a privilege it has been to be part of something so meaningful. To stand alongside such a talented, brave, and generous group of people who gave everything to tell this story with honesty and heart. To the cast, the crew, and everyone behind the scenes — you were all incredible. Truly. I feel very lucky to have shared this journey with you. King Stone may have finished its run, but the conversations it started have gone far beyond the stage and I know those conversations have continued. #toughtogether
