“Times are hard for dreamers”, but I’ve been endlessly lucky to be surrounded by the wildest, kindest, most passionate people. To my wonderfully chaotic friends, my endlessly loving family, and the mentors who believed in me before I even knew the importance of line weight—thank you.

If this degree taught me anything, it’s that we go further—and have way more fun—when we go together. ♥️

We are still REELING from an absolutely fantastic week with our program name sake, John Wells.

John, we are eternally grateful for your generosity, artistry, and dedication to the next generation of directors.

Writer, director and Emmy Award-winning producer John Wells visited Carnegie Mellon this week for an insightful discussion on the impact of narrative storytelling.

As a College of Fine Arts graduate, Wells reflected on the profound impact that his Carnegie Mellon education had on his career. Since 2010, Wells has empowered future directors through the John Wells Directing Fellowship.

During his visit, he hosted screening of the season one finale of his latest production, “The Pitt,” a medical drama that follows the daily lives of health care professionals in a Pittsburgh hospital.
