POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Being qualified and feeling ready are not always the same thing.

We have watched too many talented therapists second-guess decisions they should feel equipped to make.

So, we decided to do something about it.

Full story revealed tomorrow👀

✅Qualified.
✅Certified.

So why are so many therapists still leaving training without feeling ready?🤔

Part Two arrives Sunday.

Protocols create structure✅

Assessment determines whether that structure applies.

Two clients may appear to have the same concern while differing significantly in their skin history, barrier condition, routine, tolerance and previous treatment responses.

Following the same steps for both may be consistent but consistency is not the same as suitability.

A protocol should support clinical reasoning, not replace it.

The therapist must still interpret the variables, identify the risks and adapt the plan to the individual client.

Technical execution cannot correct an unsuitable recommendation.

A treatment may be performed precisely, but if the assessment was incomplete, the plan was poorly matched or an important contraindication was missed, technique alone will not create the right outcome.

A strong consultation establishes more than what the client wants treated.

It reveals their history, routine, previous reactions, expectations and current suitability - including when treatment should be delayed, adjusted or avoided entirely.

The quality of the decision determines the direction of everything that follows.

Knowing several treatments does not automatically tell you which one a client needs.

Treatments are often taught individually, with their own steps, settings and protocols.

Real clients are rarely that straightforward.

A client may present with pigmentation, congestion, sensitivity, a compromised barrier and expectations that need to be managed - all within the same consultation.

The challenge is not recalling every treatment you have learned.

It is knowing what to prioritise, what to avoid and where the treatment plan should begin.

📲Save this if you work with real skin.

I kept meeting qualified therapists who knew the treatment steps but still questioned their decisions

They had completed the training.

They understood the protocols.

But real clients do not present like textbook examples.

They arrive with different histories, concerns, routines and levels of tolerance.

Knowing what to do is only part of the process.

Confidence comes from understanding why a decision is appropriate for the client in front of you.

That is why I created AlphaDermis Academy.

To build the education I wish more therapists had access to earlier.

Not what to copy. How to think 💭

Every lesson has to earn its place.

As we build AlphaDermis Academy, each module is being assessed against one practical question:

👉Will this help a therapist make a better decision when a real client is sitting in front of them?

Because education should not simply give you more material to memorise. It should help you identify what matters, understand why it matters and determine what to do next.

That standard is shaping every module, framework and conversation behind the scenes.

3 things I’ve learnt solo travelling ✈️

1. Being alone ≠ being lonely. Learning to enjoy my own company, and being comfortable with discomfort.
2. You learn who you are when no one knows you. No routine, expectations or outside opinions.
3. It’s never that deep. Book the tour. Sit at the bar alone. Talk to strangers. Just do the fkn thing.
