This email changed everything. In 2020, @coach.samtooley reached out to me and suggested we start a podcast. Everything inside of me knew it was a good idea even though we had no idea what it would look like or where it would lead. The Pursuit Podcast was born. We struggled our way through the first few episodes and then found a groove. [our first episode was recorded in two separate rooms of Sam's apartment over zoom because we couldn't figure out how to connect two mics to one computer 😂] We started to schedule guests (many of whom were entrepreneurs) and it became clear that the full time job that I had worked so hard to get (doctorate degree) made it hard to be flexible. That's when Sam sent this email (slide 2). He didn't mean anything with it. But it stuck with me (slide 3). I wanted to record a podcast at 9am on a random THURSDAY like the other entrepreneurs around me not because that date and time matter but because.... I wanted complete ownership over how I spent MY TIME (and life). The seed was planted and just over 8 months later, I quit said full time job to start @project.endure. We're now 5+ years in and this moment, recording the @alphamentality.mindset with @coach.samtooley at 9am on a THURSDAY was FULL CIRCLE. This chapter has reaffirmed that ready is a decision, that everything we want is on the other side of hard and that taking no risk might be the biggest risk of all. If you want it, go get it. 🐺 REAL RECOGNIZE REAL 🐺 Alpha Mentality Podcast by @coach.samtooley EP.01 This meant more to me than words can describe - but I'll give it a shot bc I always have words. And not because I care about the facetime, and definitely not the exposure - @coach.samtooley says I'm often in Incognito mode. For one, it is the display of TRUST. Sam is investing much time, effort and money into this project (while his cup is already overflowing) and to be invited on the first ever episode is absolutely an honor. Understanding the level of detail that Sam puts into his work - this was high stakes. And his display of confidence in me to match that is a level of trust that was earned over many years of working alongside him. Next, it is a FULL CIRCLE moment. For years I have been in Sam's ear, pushing to think differently about prioritization, personnel, product, and brand, etc. Sometimes I said things that were likely very tough to hear - and yet Sam acknowledges this as motivation. In listening back to our conversation, that admission was an emotional moment for me. He didn't need to validate that - yet he did anyway. In the end, I was a guest - but Sam's growth, maturity and leadership were the real features of the show, as it should be. And this isn't a GLAZE fest 🤣 - this is: REAL RECOGNIZING REAL. On the pod we discuss my return to coaching and TIME, Northstar approach for biz, sprinters vs grinders, and family - and more. He caught me at the perfect moment in time - as I was processing tons of emotions, relationships, and decisions - going thru some changes in my own programming. In the end, we recorded for almost 50 mins and it felt like 5 - time files when you are having fun. Please consider giving it a listen - it would mean a great deal to me. My hope is that through interviewing friends and those I admire I can help inspire folks to take a chance on themselves and reflect on what sort of life they want to ultimately create. For my first episode I sat down with my brother in business @timbanos to talk coaching and brand building from @alphafitclub to @thesaladhouse. The goal of the podcast is simple. My hope is to dive into different mindsets and perspectives around performance in and out of our work, entrepreneurship, and this idea that there are no rules in how you chose to build your life. Really excited to launch @alphamentality.podcast in 2026. 🚀 Years ago I was fortunate to collaborate with my guy @joearinaldi on a podcast called The Pursuit of Progress. It was the highlight of my week during the pandemic. An opportunity to take a break from the uncertainty of the world and simply have a conversation with a friend and some incredible guests. My hope is that these episodes will allow me and my guests the same opportunity to pause, reflect, and process our thoughts amidst the chaos of our everyday life. Who knows what will come from it. But after getting to sit down with my brothers in business, @timbanos & @kieranfeelsgood — I am confident that episodes will bring value to those willingness to listen. The goal is to not take myself all too seriously and simply enjoy the process. I’ll be posting more over the coming weeks but expect the first episodes to drop in January. 👀
