SIFF 2026 WINNERS

Wow! What a line up of incredible films and talks we had this year. Thank you to all the films that submitted, to everyone who attended and to everyone who has supported. It means a lot to us to be able to hold this festival. Helping support underrepresented filmmakers voices and inspire aspiring filmmakers is something we’re very proud to be doing. Especially here in the East Midlands, the seemingly forgotten but such a beautiful part of the country.
Thank you to @stamfordarts for allowing us to put on such an event.
A massive thank you to those who have supported us @networkfhm @film_friendly @mysmashmedia @femalefilmclub

To our incredible Judges @alskimck , @roo_screen @kingderrick.a

Welcome Alan McKenna to The Self Tape Gym.

Alan has spent decades working as an actor at the highest levels of the industry. He’s also a director, writer and producer. That combination of experience means he understands exactly what’s happening on both sides of the camera.

His coaching philosophy is the same as mine. Actors need to learn from people who’ve worked at the level they’re aiming for. Drama school/acting class gives you a foundation. But there’s a gap between that and what’s actually expected on a professional set. Alan knows what’s in that gap. That’s what he coaches.

You’ll still be working with me. That’s not changing.

What Alan means for members is more. More access. More perspective. More of the right lessons, sooner.

Think of it like a gym. We’ve added another excellent coach. Working with both of us gives you more in your toolkit.

Ten years and three workshops ago, Elements took on one of its most ambitious builds yet: transforming a 5-metre sewage tank into a fully submersible submarine for the 2015 suspense thriller Pressure.

Starting with a built-to-order tank, the team removed the base, engineered a new floor, added windows and access ports, and kept the entire structure watertight, safe, and production-ready. And the creativity didn’t stop at the exterior; a second tank was reworked into the submarine’s highly detailed interior, complete with a fully dressed control room.

The outer sub was turned around in just 5 weeks, including a full week underwater in Pinewood’s legendary U-Stage. The interior followed with 3 weeks of construction and 6 weeks of filming, featuring working dials, floating walls for camera access, and a convincingly claustrophobic environment for the cast.

Many of the talented makers behind this build are still with us today, crafting new worlds and bringing ambitious ideas to life in the Elements workshop.
