Have you experienced Woo(e)d by ALTAIA?

ALTAIA, short for A Long Time Ago In Argentina, is a house we’ve come to appreciate for its refined approach to perfumery and the personal stories behind its creations.

Woo(e)d is a particularly enjoyable fragrance, especially if you appreciate woody aromatics with a slightly masculine character.

To our noses, there’s a beautiful crispness from the bergamot, accompanied by aromatic greenery and a subtle spiciness. The cardamom and clary sage give the composition an almost fougère-like quality, although we wouldn’t necessarily describe it as a traditional fougère.

The cedarwood forms much of the fragrance’s character, while the guaiac wood introduces a smooth, lightly smoky nuance that becomes increasingly noticeable as it develops.

What we enjoy is how polished everything feels. It’s aromatic, woody, and slightly herbaceous, but never particularly sharp or overwhelming.

There’s something almost tailored about Woo(e)d. It leans masculine to our noses, yet feels contemporary rather than resembling the vintage, barbershop-style fragrances often associated with aromatic compositions.

It’s also remarkably wearable, which is something we value just as much as complexity.

ALTAIA remains a house we believe more fragrance enthusiasts should explore, particularly those who appreciate compositions that favor refinement over sheer intensity.

I used to be a real perfume obsessive. I collected fragrances, read about them, searched for new ones — and wore perfume almost every single day.

This is only a small part of my collection, the one I have with me in Munich.

But something has changed this year.

I feel increasingly tired of… everything. Too much visual noise, too many choices, too much information, too many things constantly asking for our attention.

And somehow perfume became part of that too.

These days I mostly reach for the same one or two fragrances — and sometimes I wear nothing at all.

Maybe I’m getting older. Or maybe I’m just craving less.

TEA MAY BE ONE OF THE MOST VERSATILE EFFECTS IN PERFUMERY.

It can feel pale and transparent, like jasmine tea steeping beside an open window, or become smoky, spiced, woody and almost resinous. Even the green interpretations vary enormously. Fragonard’s Jasmin Perle de Thé is crisp and refreshing, while Astrophil & Stella Shanghai 1930 surrounds green tea with mango, plum, cinnamon and an extravagant floral heart.

This selection moves from the jasmine tea softness of Altaia Don’t Cry for Me to the incense-laced dryness of L’Entropiste Jodhpur 6 AM, the floral amber warmth of Gallivant Nida and the bright citrus oolong of Nishane Wūlóng Chá. There is black tea with vanilla, tea beneath peony, white tea polished with iris and amber, and one perfume that seems to contain the entire tea cabinet.
