Herzliche Einladung zur Katalogpräsentation von back and forth in der Heussenstamm-Stiftung

Dienstag, 20. Oktober 2026
18 Uhr
@heussenstamm_ Braubachstr.34

After seven months on the road and one month in Frankfurt am Main exhibition Handel with Care came to an end at Alte Schmelze last week.

Thank you to everyone who opened their archives, their stories, and their care to this project — the artists, the translators, the institutions, and everyone who walked through the space and sat with these histories.

But this isn’t quite the end. On September 27, Handle with Care continues in Berlin with its closing chapter, Aftermath, at Spore Initiative on the South and North Caucasus, freedom, and personal experience. See you soon in Berlin!

We thank our wonderful partners: Manana Bold Team — Felix Kosok, Aleksandar Radan, Aileen Treusch, Ellen Wagner, Alte Schmelze: Jacqueline Jakobi Millán and Artist Artjom Chepovetskyy.

This summer I was very happy to join @handle_with_care_project with Annushka (2023)

I loved the idea behind “Handle with Care”: a suitcase traveled from one city to another, collecting works from multiple artists who reflect on family archives, migration histories, and diverse regional contexts. In each city, a mediation session took place around the objects from the suitcase, and new participants joined. In the end, all the works were presented at an exhibition in Frankfurt am Main at @alte_schmelze

In “Annushka” project, my family’s history became intertwined with the stories of women from the Soviet atomic project, and my name became the connecting thread between different forms of uranium’s existence and the facilities that transform it into weapons-grade plutonium.

Taking part in “Handle with Care” inspired me to give this project a second life and reissue the zine in English. So, stay tuned.

And by the way, the exhibition at @alte_schmelze has been extended until 10.09. You can still catch it.
