Tracklist

A1 – Sonic Interferance
A2 – Stygian
B1 – Pelham Square
B2 – Stygian (RQZ Remix)

Stygian is the A2 of ALTH006. The complete EP was released on 5 May 2023 and contains four tracks, including the RQZ remix on the B-side.

About the Track

“Stygian” is one of the two original HAF productions on Sonic Interferance EP. The track was premiered by Alter Hour on 12 April 2023, shortly before the vinyl release. The label describes HAF’s material as minimal and underground music from its London-based local talent.

Musically, Stygian sits firmly in the stripped-back minimal-house / tech-house spectrum. Its character comes from a tightly controlled rhythmic structure, a strong low-end foundation and detailed sound design rather than from a conventional melodic hook.

The arrangement is deliberately spacious. Individual percussion elements have room to breathe, while small changes in the groove create movement over time. This is typical of DJ-oriented minimal production: the track does not need dramatic breakdowns because the interest comes from the interaction of small rhythmic and sonic details.

A contemporary description of the EP highlights detailed and artistic sound design, a strong bassline and a powerful, punchy rhythm—qualities that are particularly relevant to Stygian.

VINYL FINDS WITH LAST PINES 🪴 Ep.3

Slowly adding to our plant collection.

This time around Heath’s mixing Vadim Oslov on @alterhour, followed by a roller from @martinmmusic

To top things off he’s dug out an old favourite from Daniel Akbar on Constant Black.
