One of the most fulfilling parts of my Miss Universe journey was my Altruism Project, Lux Within, which means 'light within'.

This was something I had always dreamed of creating, but this journey gave me the platform, structure, and courage to bring it to life. It meant so much that the judges saw the vision and believed in its impact, selecting it as one of the MUJ KSA's Top 6 Altruism Projects.🙏

Even more special was having the opportunity to return to my alma mater, Meadowbrook High, to officially launch the project (06/05/26) with the support of the VM Foundation. Walking those halls again, reconnecting with former teachers, meeting new ones, and seeing students sitting where I once sat was incredibly nostalgic and heartwarming.

There is something deeply fulfilling about giving back in a way that brings purpose to your own life while empowering those coming behind you. If I can help even one young person recognize the light they already carry within, then this project is doing exactly what it was created to do.

The name Lux Within was inspired by my old school motto, Ita Splendeat Lux Vestra—Latin for "Let your light so shine" (Matthew 5:16). Let us all shine wherever we are, because even the smallest light has the power to brighten the world around it.

Althea Laing's Tweens and Teens 2026 Personal Development Programme did exactly what it was supposed to! The programme culminated in a graduation ceremony held on July 6, 2026 at Jade Gardens Restaurant. Thank you @althea_laing for the opportunity not only to listen to and witness these brilliant young minds but also to share with them on the theme 'Becoming'.

The countdown is on to the inaugural staging of Jamaica Fashion Week, happening November 19–22 at Island Village in Ocho Rios, Jamaica—a landmark moment for Jamaica’s fashion industry and creative community.

Recently, Latoya McLeary, Co-Founder of Jamaica Fashion Week, was on island putting the finishing touches on plans for this historic movement.

While in Jamaica, McLeary (2nd right) seized a special photo opportunity with an inspiring gathering of fashion industry talent: model Moya-Maye Nanan of GAG Management; Gerald A. Gordon, Founder of GAG Management; model icon Althea Laing; Michael Dennis; and Norma Ebanks, the Jamaican-born designer based in the Cayman Islands.

From established icons to emerging talent and Caribbean creatives making their mark internationally, this gathering reflects the spirit and energy behind Jamaica Fashion Week: celebrating Jamaican fashion, elevating Caribbean talent, and creating a global platform for the region’s designers and creatives.

We were pleased to return for a second session of the Personal Development Programme led by development coach and image consultant Althea Laing, this time connecting with young adults through meaningful conversations around personal and financial development.
Our Senior Financial Advisor, Venice Chin-See Parchment, shared insights on investing, financial awareness and the importance of starting early when it comes to building a strong financial foundation.
It was an opportunity to have open conversations, share practical knowledge and encourage young adults to think more intentionally about the financial decisions that can shape their future.
