Our very first class at the Wangsa 9 Condo Skatepark!

This skatepark is located on the 7th floor and is exclusively for residents. We absolutely love the environment here. The park sits next to a hill, and you even have to cross a bridge to get there, making it feel like a hidden skate spot. There is also a café nearby, toilets, and a kids’ water play area, making it a great place for families as well.

Fun fact: Coach Boy Ipoh actually visited this skatepark long before the condominium was completed back in 2018. He met the park builder, @altictim , to take some photos and share a few ideas for the park’s design. Yes, the tunnel feature was also one of Coach Boy Ipoh’s ideas!

The park was mainly designed for experienced skaters rather than beginners, although it is still a great place to learn carving and improve flow. One suggestion we have is to paint border lines on the hips and ramps for better visibility and safety, so users can clearly distinguish between the ramps, transitions, and flat areas.

We also made a new friend, Yuki from Japan, who is both a surfer and surfskater. Among the local residents, he is known as the “chief” of this skatepark.

Overall, we had an amazing session here. Since it’s close to where we live, we’re sure we’ll be skating here from time to time and making more new friends along the way.

How to Choose the Best Skatepark for YOU 🤔

A good skatepark should feel smooth, safe, and fun to roll through with a layout that flows.

Look for:
🔹 Smooth ground
🔹 Clear lines to skate through
🔹 Space between obstacles
🔹 Beginner-friendly areas

Avoid parks that are:
⚠️ Overcrowded
⚠️ Only for advanced skaters
⚠️ Designed with blind corners

🛑 Helmets & pads are encouraged
🚸 Clear rules are a big plus

✨ It’s okay to start simple. Progress starts one session at a time!

Back in the Saddle
It was a real pleasure catching up with Tim Altic at the Culver City Skate Park during his visit from Colorado. Duke Rennie was back for only his second pool session after a long recovery from injury, and it was great to see him rolling again. The vibe was relaxed, the skating was solid, and the park drew a strong crew of talented riders.
