.
A day late but not a dollar short.
.
This year has been marked by award ceremonies, revitalization, healing, and connection. I was feeling lonely yesterday. My expectation was that everyone would celebrate me and how far i've come in this journey. I thought the world would be grateful that im here and my phone would go off non stop with messages of love and gratitude.
.
This did not happen and at first it made me sad. Seeking the validation of others to confirm where i am and who i am. People not living up to my thought of what should happen.
.
Then the thought "its not about you anymore" boomed loudly in my head. I realized that i was just drowning in self pity. I realized that the mark of my sobriety is definitely something to celebrate but its not to show off how good i am or to get validation from others. Its about everyone else.
.
Its about the hearts that i get to touch. The people who allow me into their lives. The ones who i get to witness come back to life. The ones who forever change my heart. The community that has risen around me, and the ones that have yet to come give this a try.
.
My mind can tell me im alone, it can tell me no one cares, and it can tell me that im not enough.
.
The truth?
.
My community has never been so vast. My relationships have never been this deep. My heart has never beat this loud, and my life has never been this full.
.
Looking over this past year my heart is singing and my eyes are wet with tears. To all that have been apart of it and all that have not yet crossed my path. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to be apart of your life- for sharing your hearts with me- and for holding mine in your hands.
.
I am forever indebted to each and every one of you. I hope my gratitude is shown through my actions. Thank you for my life.
.
P.S. very excited to share the next chapter of my life as some big moves are happening 😁
