He seems to have an old hernia I don’t think affects him and he didn’t neutered. No idea how old yet. We will see what the vet says about helping him with his skin. The sheriff was thrilled to have a rescue to call about pigs lol.

If you didn’t know, the horse slaughter industry has been paused for a short time due to the screwworm outbreak. Horses are sitting in kill pens getting sick, trampled - and worst of all- costing the kill pens money. Because of this, some of them are preying on people’s compassion and trying to get money any way they can, in this case, this auction is trying to get people to pay for them to put them down on site and then cremate or bury them. Never heard them utter the words “humane euthanasia”.

At The Lamb’s Haven, we don’t want horses to suffer. We want to provide sanctuary to them, adopt the ones we can, and provide a permanent refuge or last act of kindness for those that need it.

If we receive enough funding to pull this mare, she will be brought to the rescue for quarantine. Her teeth and feet taken care of, evaluated by a veterinarian for health. We will evaluate her temperament and knowledge. And the it will be decided if she will need to live out the rest of her life at the Haven or she can be adopted. There is a chance right now for rescues to step up and show the industry there ARE options other than slaughter for unwanted horses to go.

If the fundraising goal is not met or this horse passes before we can get her, etc, the funds donated will be returned to owners or applied immediately to another horse, whatever donor decides. If you would like to donate another way, Venmo is @lambshavenrescue and Zelle is 682-936-9776 Faith Mackey.
