POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

4 years ago I gave my kids an ultimatum. That if they wanted to try the home school grappling program that they couldn’t quit. EVER. After a couple of weeks of watching on the side line, I couldn’t stand watching anymore and had to try an adult class. I knew after a couple hard rounds I was missing something in my life that I hadn’t had in decades. The spirit of competition and the work ethic of martial artists. I grew up playing sports, wrestling, and eventually boxing as a teen. I LOVED to fight and engage in combat for as long as I could remember. Some of my best friendships as a kid started as a scrap on the school yard. Today I am honored to train and grow on the mats along side my children and some very good friends. We all help each other get better, keep our heads up, and support each other on and off the mats. Without grappling I don’t really know where I’d be in life, but I know I can take on any challenge as long as I spend time doing what I love, if and when I can. The resilience and ambition I’ve come to pride myself on I only pray my kids apply that to their daily life. Thank you to my wife for letting me obsess and love my sport. Thank you to my kids for showing me you can start thing and be consistent. Thank you to my coaches, mentors, and training partners near and far for letting me train and sweat on you. Truly nothing means more to me than your camaraderie . Lastly ALHAMDOLILAH for without Allah (God) we have nothing. May peace and blessing be upon you all.

That’s one of pop’s old boxing coaches, a local legend in our city. I’m honored to share this boxing lineage through my old boxing Coach Abel who was one of Richard Lord’s fighters.

Thank you for the inspiration OG 🙏🏼 #handsovereverything #lordsboxinggym #richardlordsboxinggym
