The Most Exciting & Highly Anticipated play of 2026(and probably the 21st century) Bess Wohl Liberation is NOW on its FIRST regional theater stage, Philadelphia Theater Company. OBSESSED. ✊🏾🫶🏿🫶🏿 Ella, Taara, Maddy & Sarah got an exclusive BTS look at the gorgeous set design of this production directed by Taibi Maher. Made us feel like we were in the Neighborhood Rec Center growing up. Perfect. 🔥🔥🔥 We got a chance to get a little bit of a background on the cast and the costumes, the music, the light and all to expect in this production, as we had already seen it on Broadway. It was especially cool to go through this with women that couldn't be more different, just like the women in this play. Each of us are so Different, but still living in the same Women Hood & feeling connected as sisters with in this moment in the most empowering.🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿 That is the power of this play. It's sooooo Fun, FUNNY & Beautiful. You will meet 6/7 women all in the throws of their own #Liberation on & off the stage. You will find so much joy in this stellar Cast performance. Be ready to Stand United in all our Glory🫶🏿🫶🏿✊🏾🫰🏿. This is the beginning of this amazing run, now until 10/25. Liberation Opens this Friday! Can we ever really know our mothers, especially our mothers before and outside of ourselves? That’s the question of the new play, “Liberation,” as a woman connects to who her mother once was, as a young radical in the women’s movement in the 70s. The Broadway debut just won a Tony and a Pulitzer. And, in a coup, Philly is one of just 11 cities nationwide to get to stage it first. “I think that’s such a beautiful, provocative question: What was my mother’s life like before me?” says Taibi Magar, the director of the play. “Liberation” is a quiet spectacle.

Looking back to move forward. ✨ The cast and creative team of Liberation recently stepped outside the rehearsal room for a special visit to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, where they explored archival materials documenting the Women’s Liberation Movement of the 1970s—the history and conversations at the heart of Bess Wohl’s Liberation. Our sincere thanks to HSP for opening its archives to our artists and creating an opportunity to connect the past with the stories we’re bringing to the stage. And the conversation continues on Saturday, October 17 with Leaders Who Lunch. 🥂 Join us before the 2 PM performance of Liberation for mimosas, brunch, and a candid conversation about leadership, legacy, and the changing landscape of American theatre with Sara Garonzik, Taibi Magar, and Amina Robinson, and moderated by Rev Dr. Lorina Marshall Blake. Your participation supports PTC’s work onstage, in classrooms, and throughout our community. Pull up a chair and be part of the conversation. 🎟️ Reserve your place at Leaders Who Lunch through this link https://philadelphiatheatrecompany.org/leaders-who-lunch/

A look back to move forward. ✨ As we continue rehearsals for Liberation, members of our cast, director, and PTC Board had the incredible opportunity to visit the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and explore archival materials from Philadelphia’s women’s liberation movement of the 1970s. Seeing these photographs, documents, stories, and pieces of history up close gave us another opportunity to connect the world of Liberation to the real people and movements that shaped—and continue to shape—the conversations at the heart of the play. A heartfelt thank you to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania for opening your doors to us, thoughtfully curating this experience, and giving our team such special access to these remarkable materials. We are so grateful for your time, knowledge, and generosity. ❤️ Now, experience the story these histories helped inspire. Don’t miss the Philadelphia premiere of the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning Liberation, onstage October 9–25 at Philadelphia Theatre Company. 🎟️ Get your tickets now at the link in bio. #LiberationPTC #PhiladelphiaTheatreCompany #PhillyTheatre #WomensHistory #PhiladelphiaHistory BehindTheScenes
