A year of terrible content collection (peep spilling coffee etc) but beautiful time spent capturing @fontainebleaustatepark through the seasons en plein air. Come see the spoils of these enraptured moments, and have one yourself in the same landscape. These oil paintings are mindful doses of escape requisite for my sanity, this collection is a self appointed artist residency to show some love for the more curated wild sites of our state. A collective of us have culled work of a similar feral vein with truly varied media: “plein Wild” a pop up you don’t want to miss, in the prime of our idyllic LA weather held at the park that inspired the work,

Recently we had the opportunity to participate in yet another epic adventure with this group of kind, inquisitive, nature-loving people 🤎🌿🍄‍🟫

@soma.remedies and I each gave a lecture on native plants and native mushrooms, and then we took everyone in the field on a nature walk to learn more!

It was a mind-blowing turnout, thanks to @alxlandry’s efforts putting together this weekend event, and we want to congratulate him on all his hard work and success 👏

Thank you so much to everyone who attended! @jordangrows enjoyed seeing many familiar faces and the countless new faces she had the opportunity to meet too 😊

Mush love, stay curious, and keep exploring! 🍄‍🟫

Bartram Bio Bash was a success! 🌿

I’m so grateful to have been part of such an incredible weekend filled with inspiring classes and so many like minded people who share a deep love for nature and learning. I’m already looking forward to next year!

And a huge shoutout to @alxlandry for all of his hard work, dedication, and passion for creating these incredible, accessible events for the public.

Yesterday was the coolest experience ever and I woke up this morning feeling so much gratitude. Check out this mindblowing turnout for our mushroom walk at @northlakenaturecenter yesterday!

We had about 20 people sign up, so you can imagine our shock and excitement that closer to 60 people actually showed up…all to spend time out in nature learning about our mushroom species and local ecology 💚

Thank you so much @alxlandry and @pelicanparknatureprograms for the opportunity to lead this nature walk, and to @spore.lore for helping to teach about mushrooms and participate in crowd control 😅

And most importantly, thank you to everyone who showed up to learn! I was so engrossed in the experience that I did not take hardly any photos, so if you captured some good ones, please share them in the comments or tag us in a post? 🫶

We’ll be back next weekend for Bartram Bio Bash leading a mushroom talk and a nature walk, and hope to see some familiar faces and many new attendees too!

Mush love, y’all 🍄‍🟫

If you told 15 year old me that in less than 5 years she would be talking to 60 (willing) people and teaching them about fungi she would have probably told you 2 things.

1)That she doesn’t really know anything

2)that there’s no way you found 60 people that are willing to spend their Saturday hearing me talk about slime mold

I think the beautiful thing about being so deeply passionate about something is you never stop learning. Every moment I had to tell someone “I don’t know” was a moment that inspired me to keep learning. And I think this long stupid caption is just me telling you to find something that makes you happy, and to never stop learning about it

I want to give a big thank you to my incredible mentors Jordan Gros (@jordangrows) and Alex Landry (@alxlandry) and my mom @jenplaisance who I’m sure spent many moments wondering just how many fungi books she would have to spend her money on. I love you guys

Throwback to last weekend when we had the opportunity to connect with some super inquisitive nature lovers in collaboration with @pelicanparknatureclub! It’s always a pleasure working with them and learning from people like @alxlandry and @ggcapranica about birds, plants, and other feats of nature. And, of course, we’re always happy to add to the experience by sharing our knowledge about fungi! 🍄‍🟫

With the recent rain, the mushrooms are making a glorious appearance! We found many gorgeous specimens, including some of the first chanterelles of the season 💛🧡🤩

Another weekend spent in nature with incredible, inquisitive humans amidst interesting insects, ancient trees, native plants, and extended mycelial networks 🤓

We got to present on Native Louisiana Mushrooms and be a part of a nature walk afterwords where we learned much about the history of the land and its current inhabitants 🍄‍🟫🌳🦉

Thank you @alxlandry and @pelicanparknatureclub for the opportunity!
