Tomorrow, I head to the @SonyAlpha #SonyKandoTrip
As a Sony Artisan of Imagery, I have been fortunate to go every year. Kando Trip is something I look forward to every year. Being around new friends and old friends, with everyone excited to create and be a part of the photo community is really inspiring. It really is an amazing event every year,
Apologies to everyone who got cropped out, vertical 16x9 is a tough crop!

Last week was one of those reminders of how far I've come in this journey. As someone who jumped into visuals with @sonyalpha being who I trusted, I'm grateful to be trusted and included in their moments.

The A7Rvi and new G Master 100-400 launch was special. It was great to laugh and see friends while creating with the latest and greatest offerings that are pushing the visual world forward.

For those of you who go to photography conferences… I’m genuinely curious about something. Do they still feel meaningful to you? Do the giant ones… thousands of people, massive trade floors, endless speaker schedules… still move the culture forward?

Or are the real conversations happening in smaller rooms now, quieter corners, late dinners, the kind of accidental one-on-one conversations that take a little time to unfold?

I’ve been thinking about this because I just got back from Las Vegas where one of the big photography conferences happens every year. I’ve been attending long enough that I still remember when those hallways felt like the center of the photography universe.

Around 2009–2011 you could walk into the place and feel the electricity.

Digital cameras were finally taking over from film, social media was beginning to connect photographers around the world, and wedding photography itself was quietly mutating from something fairly traditional into something expressive, strange, and deeply creative.

It felt like everyone was discovering the profession together in real time.

Coming back this year felt different.

Not worse, not better, just… different.

If I had to summarize the overall tone it would probably be nostalgia meets automation.

The energy on the trade floor wasn’t really around cameras this year… it was around AI.

Long lines around editing software companies, photographers leaning in with that particular mix of curiosity and skepticism and asking practical questions like “how much does it cost?” and “will it save me time?”

Which honestly tells you everything about where the industry’s head is right now.

I’ve got a few more field notes from Las Vegas that wouldn’t fit here… dropping them in the comments below.

But first I’m curious…

What do you actually get out of conferences these days?

There is only one way to really test a camera... And that's to actually use it!

One week and about 6000 images later, I have a pretty good idea of what this powerhouse can do!

@sonyalpha did something great with this one! 🤘

Day 2 of my incredible Sony Kando Trip @ Suncadia Washington 2025... We went on an awesome hike to Franklin Falls, then enjoyed a nice casual evening of gorgeous views, great food, friends, and frosty beverages... Thanks for watching and it was such a great time hanging out with you all :)

Finally, taking a beat to honor the beautiful time I had with my @sonyalpha family in Cle Elum, Washington. This year was extra special. The beautiful landscapes brought us to a dreamy, peaceful, complacent side of ourselves. As creators we spend a lot of time isolated, hustling, competing with our own self. #SonyKandoTrip brings us all together as family. United, encouraged, inspired to keep showing up, not only for ourselves, but for our unique community. Thank you endlessly to @sonyalpha @sonyalphafemale @bluepixelcreates @yeahfieldtrip @suncadia ☀️

Every year I find myself always craving two extra days of adventure, creativity and disconnecting from my every day day-to-day so next year, if anyone wants to add on a few days to our trip, let’s do it.🤘🏽🧡📸😘

All the Kando posts triggered my phone to aggregate a bunch of images from Sony events over the years so I chucked them together. It’s been a ride. There’s a lot more where these came from, but here’s what I had in my phone. Tag limit’s a pain, but cheers to you all, and to old scars and new skin. On and up…

We came, we saw, we Kando'd.

As I'm still processing all of what this week with @sonyalpha @sonyelectronics has been for #sonykandotrip 2025. The first thing I want share is just a few shots from the moments in between the moments. Those conversations, connections, laughs, adoration, and now memories that we will all have.

I met and was embraced by so many dope people whose work I love and truly enjoy.

I'm grateful for my first time here 😌, recap Monday
