Introducing the host of Black Hair Expo 2025, Alyce Washington!🎤✨

Alyce is a 3rd year Biology major from Tampa, Florida! When asked what her favorite thing about black hair, Alyce said

“What I love most about my Black hair is its versatility! It took me a long time to truly embrace my natural hair, but once I learned how to care for it properly, I realized just how special it is. Black hair isn’t just hair, it’s a statement, a reflection of identity, and a celebration of culture. The ability to switch it up, from curls to braids to a silk press, is a reminder of the beauty and creativity that comes with being Black. What I once saw as a chore, I now see as a crown, a symbol of strength, heritage, and everything that makes me who I am.”

Get ready for engaging conversations, culture, and community, all centered around the beauty and legacy of Black hair. #BHE2025 #BlackHairExpo #MeetTheHosts”

A busy weekend but a Sunday well spent!

Received a panel discussion invite from an organization at the University of Florida and accepted it joining Dr. Dakeyan Graham, CEO Countess Balogun, CEO Gibran Washington, and Dr. Michelle Dunlap. We were also joined by guest speaker, Florida State Senator Shevrin Jones who represents the NE Miami-Dade County.

The Black Leadership Council Conference was hosted by the University of Florida’s Black Student Union where the theme was “Black Wall Street: Building a Legacy.”

What a humbling honor it was to join such a distinguished panel of Black Excellence! More importantly, to engage with the young students who are our future leaders. The future is bright!

Continue to use me Lord. 🙏🏾

Ending my first year of college was a success within it self. I have to say, I was most proud of the fact that I was able to create the first majorette dance team at the University of Florida, “The Elite Chompettes”. As a freshman, this was not an easy process. I’ve danced majorette for the past 7 years and it was something I knew I couldn’t leave behind. Thanks to God’s grace and my family and friends’ love, I was able to build this team. The impact of such a team on the black community at UF is something I feel would benefit the university. I appreciate my team so much and I am so thankful to have a strong E-Board. These girls work so hard and I love each and every one of y’all. Without a doubt I know these next years we will only get stronger and build our team. We’re just getting started when it comes to making our mark at UF!
