FRIEZE WEEK | Thank you to everyone who joined us on Tuesday morning for breakfast amongst ‘The Gathering’, Jonathan Baldock’s installation at @sketchlondon in Mayfair.

We had the privilege of hearing @jonathan_baldock in conversation with @gemmabrace, Head of Exhibitions at @arnolfiniarts, Bristol.

Many thanks to the team at @sketchlondon, and especially to @vetleegeland and Sinead Mallozzi, who took on the challenge of welcoming our 150 guests at an hour when sketch isn’t usually open to the public. Thank you for making this event happen, it meant a lot!

Baldock’s solo show ‘For Your Keeping’ continues at Canopy Collections HQ in Bloomsbury until 20 November, while his installation at sketch remains on display until 2027.

Write to us for a preview of the exhibited works.

Last Thursday at the Barn: studio doors were open, a long table set in our dining room, and a day spent walking a small group of collectors, curators, and friends through the studios and the 15 acres of grounds of Matt Black Barn.

Welcoming guests in, Andrew put it simply: "It always takes a moment to land." That's exactly what these visits are for — time to slow down, look closely at work in progress, share a lunch together, and talk about where and how our vision is evolving, all set in the landscape that shapes it.

Grateful, as ever, for the company and the conversation.

We are pleased to announce that Charlie Godet Thomas has been nominated for the 2026 PSSA Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture for Long Shifting Thresholds (2025), London.

Working across sculpture, writing, installation, and performance, Godet Thomas has developed a rigorous and highly distinctive practice centered on the intersection of language, material, and site. Long Shifting Thresholds extends this inquiry through a permanent public commission that operates simultaneously as architecture, text, and image.

Conceived as a sculptural calligram, the work transforms an existing entrance, rearticulating its steps and threshold through hand-cut Carrara and Belgian Black marble. Drawing on the visual language of twentieth century mosaic entryways, the project engages a vernacular architectural tradition while reframing it as a site of poetic inscription. In doing so, it situates itself within the artist’s sustained interest in signage and the convergence of reading and viewing.

Structured through repetition, rhythm, and circularity, the composition unfolds over time, activated by the movement of residents as they ascend and descend. The work resists fixity, instead operating as a durational form in which language, body, and architecture remain in continuous relation.

The PSSA Marsh Award for Excellence in Public Sculpture, in partnership with @marshawards, recognizes outstanding contemporary public sculpture installed in the previous year and advances broader engagement with the field.

Apologies for the radio silence, dear followers!

Life got unexpectedly exciting with a big change of address … a move to this wonderful place they call the countryside! And I now love to call home! ❤️

My days are now mostly spent discovering great fields and snuggling by the fire, making new friends, and enduring the occasional (and honestly, quite unwanted!) trip back to the capital.

Even in this terribly cold weather, I’m absolutely living my best Podenco life! ✨

Our warmest congratulations to Hannan and Shamica on the launch of ‘Strike | the mark feeds the score | surface as notation’ at Forma, Bermondsey Square 💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us all for the opening last Thursday - it was a wonderful moment for everyone involved in the project. Commissioned and produced in partnership with Wysing, Forma and Knotenpunkt, the exhibition was developed during a two-year residency at Wysing Arts Centre, before making it’s way to Bermondsey Square.

Rosie Cooper, Director, Wysing Arts Centre, says:

“Hannan Jones and Shamica Ruddock have been in residence at Wysing for almost two years, working to develop an ambitious new body of work that marks a significant and exciting evolution in their thoughtful, collaborative, and deeply researched practice. Through our partnership with the excellent team at Forma and with the visionary support of Knotenpunkt, we’ve had the privilege of supporting the artists in realising this vision. It’s been brilliant to facilitate this development through Wysing’s ongoing commissions programme, which places artists and their growth at its centre.”

Following exhibitions by Athen Kardashian & Nina Mhach Durban, and Gaia Di Lorenzo & Francesca Pionati, Jones’ and Ruddock’s intervention will be the third commission in the space by an artist duo since Forma began programming at Bermondsey Square earlier this year.

Thanks also to Forma friends at @arznerbar for hosting us following the opening! 🪩 🍕

‘Strike | the mark feeds the score | surface as notation’, is now on view at Forma’s Bermondsey Square gallery space until 18 January 2026.

Forma welcomes new trustees and a Chair to its board as we wish Anders Hemmingsen a warm farewell 🫶

Forma is delighted to welcome four new members to our Board of Trustees: Ranveer Bassey, Jack Charlesworth, Lucia Pietroiusti, and Alys Williams. Beginning in January 2025, the new trustees joined our existing board members: Yves Blais, Eva Langret, Laura Parker, Chris Sharp, and Himali Singh Soin.

Ranveer Bassey will take on the role of Treasurer, while Lucia Pietroiusti steps in as Chair of the Board of Trustees. Lucia Pietroiusti, on behalf of the incoming Trustees said: “In times of profound transformation, cultural institutions require an approach that is courageous, regenerative, compassionate, and wise. One that steadfastly supports the work of artists—the keepers of our shared histories and the weavers of our shared futures. Organisations like Forma are therefore needed now more than ever in our art and culture ecosystem.”

With two new sites opening in 2025, Forma faces exciting opportunities and new challenges. The new trustees bring fresh skills, connections, and with a focus on sustainability and community engagement, they will help to shape Forma’s future in Bermondsey and beyond.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Anders Hemmingsen, who, after nine incredible years on Forma’s board of trustees, has concluded his tenure as Chair of the Board.

Under Anders’ leadership, Forma became a dynamic hub for creativity, expanding across London with new artistic programmes, residencies, and major commissions. His tenure saw the creation of FormaHQ, a cultural landmark in South London, the completion of major commissions, and the launch of multiple initiatives that supported artists. Anders’ legacy is an organisation that thrives on forging unconventional paths and finding new ways to meaningfully engage and work with artists.

A warm welcome to Ranveer, Jack, Lucia, and Alys! 🎉 Together, we look forward to a more inclusive, innovative, and impactful future.

This morning, me, my human, my sister Rubi and her human joined hundreds of other podencos and their loving friends with the charity Plataforma NAC for a peaceful march through Central London. We walked all the way to the Embassy of Spain to stand in solidarity against the cruel hunting practices that lead to gentle and loyal dogs like us being abandoned and killed.

It’s heartbreaking to know that in 2023, the Spanish Parliament excluded us from their new animal welfare law. Many of my kind endure extreme cruelty during their lives, and the ways unwanted dogs are killed are especially brutal, designed to prolong our suffering 😢

My human adopted me from Hope for Podencos in 2022, and our journey together has been filled with patience and love as I learn to overcome my nervousness of this world. The crowds today were very scary! We are resilient and I know we all deserve as much love and happiness as I have found in my furever home in London! ❤️

And just to clarify, the red and yellow some of us were wearing wasn’t a celebration of Spain; it was simply a nod to our heritage.
