⸻ In this photo, to the left, is my grandmother, Ada Meredith Ross, and after marrying my Grandfather became Ada Ross Robinett. In June and July of 1933, she joined her mother, brother, and a few friends on a salmon-fishing trip up the St. Lawrence River. Her father, A.F.C. Ross, beautifully documented the entire journey in a journal then typed out about their adventure. I just discovered both this photo and his written account tucked away in my mom’s attic. They say a picture is worth a thousand words—but in this case, I’m lucky enough to have both the words and the pictures, bringing their story vividly to life.

Love is the most powerful force in the universe and sometimes it feels slow and untouchable when we really hunger for it...but it’s there even when you feel all alone. I compare it to rain...it’s tiny little droplets sometimes seem insignificant until you look at the Grand Canyon (Thank you so much Bob and Charlotte for being the first to bring me there, at a time I really needed to see the expanse) then feel with time what it can do. In this video I’m dancing with my girl, Donna, and on this evening Donna & Tony Vallone received The Rotary Distinguished Citizen Award. (Prior recipients include: Bob McNair, George H.W. Bush, William P. Hobby, Jr., Roy Hoffheinz, Gus Wortham, George R. Brown, Michael DeBakey, Ima Hogg, Barbara Bush, Craig Biggio....you get it) So before the event was over Tony said meet us for sushi...he told me where to go and when I was trying to find it...like he called me 5 or 6 times...where are you? were here...where are you we’ve been here for a while? Hey where are you are you lost? Hey we’re almost done eating.. where are you? So I finally arrive, believe it of not without a car accident with answering all the phone calls, I think my cell phone bill was double that month,,,, which I think it has been since I met the boss,,,and they had not even been seated YET!! I’m like oh lawd...Donna thanks for the Dance and actually Tony Vallone thanks for the dance with you too.
