The weather changed our plans, not our purpose. 💜

Although the rain brought our Alzheimer's walk indoors this week, it didn't stop our Sheyenne Crossings community and family members from coming together. We filled the halls with steps, support, and a shared purpose to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease.

Last weekend we took the walk to end Alzheimer’s. A close cause to our hearts and family.

We walk for Uncle Bob and Grandpa Bob and also to make a few visits and hugs to our favorite princesses too!

Thank you @aynick for the work and heart you put into this committee and cause and to everyone else involved. 💜💜💜

September is World Alzheimer’s Month. Yesterday was World Alzheimer’s Day. Dad started showing symptoms in his mid-50s, despite no risk factors—and despite his own father living to 103, sharp as a tack. None of us are promised anything. 55+ million people are living with dementia globally. It’s real and it sucks.

I’m nudging up against the one-year mark of losing Dad to this insidious disease and using that grief to morph “somedays” into “nows” in his honor.

I invite you to do the same.

(Don’t worry; I still doomscroll and squander time with the best of them. Dad would give me lots of grace for that, too.)

Despite it being a little rainy, Dahlia, Cally and Grace had a great time volunteering on Saturday morning with the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s! It was so nice to see so many people out to support such a great cause. 💜

World Alzheimer’s Day | September 21 ❤️

Today, on World Alzheimer’s Day, we recognize the importance of supporting, caring for, and strengthening older adults and those who care for them.

Recently, members of our community participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Minneapolis, joining thousands of people who came together to raise awareness and support Alzheimer’s care, support, and research.

At Centro Tyrone Guzman, we believe that community well-being includes supporting our older adults, strengthening their social and cultural connections, and supporting their families and caregivers.

Thank you to everyone in our community who walked with us and continues to help build a community where older adults can live with dignity, connection, and well-being. ❤️

When my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the end of 2024, I had fully immersed myself in playing Baldur’s Gate as a form of escapism and I guess…a bit of therapy.

I never played as Karlach’s character myself, but she was almost always in my party. Her love of life and joy at sheer existence was inspiring, during a time when it seemed to so loudly clash with my own real-time experience.

When @samanthabeart wanted to join our auction, I was quite frankly speechless. And when I received her package and signed print in the mail, I was floored. But it was her private note to us, to me, that meant the most.

I am so grateful to this community and to each one of you for contributing to this fight.
