💥And they are OFF!!!!💥
Full term has started with a bang. Here are some painters from intermediate and advanced painting doing some jumping into studio work for the term. They had to pull four adjectives out of a hat and make a non-representational painting for each descriptive word. Met that challenge – so now they are warming up with some still-life paintings. Come see work in person in 2nd floor, Loso hall!

Congratulations to all the artists with work in the annual EOU Student Juried Exhibition! It’s a wonderful show. The opening last Wednesday night was a great one. If you missed it, swing by the Nightingale Gallery, and catch the show! Here are a few pics of our award winners, although I didn’t catch everyone … 💫 the video at the end is @the.imminent.jack best in show!!! 🙌

Enjoy the long weekend, EOU! Don’t forget to visit the beautiful Mount Emily recreation area right in our backyard! Experiments in 2-D media class went on a field trip this last week and had so much fun. The wildflowers are really popping 🌸👀🦋! Hijinks ensued ….

Thanks to @the.imminent.jack and @lusekelo for the photos.

How sweet it is… To learn to paint! Our beginning painting class has been killing it this term. Having fun and enjoying the process. Here are a few smiling faces and a few recent wins!

🌸Spring term is off to a great start! Here are some beginning drawing students working on modified contour lines last week. Next - images from work completed fall term that had been hanging in the @eouartsandhumanities Dean’s office this winter. Thank you to all the students who lent your artwork for this conference room show! @eou_art especially enjoyed art major Baron looming menacingly over Dean Nate as he held meetings. 😂

2024 art recap~
—————————
hi everybody!

this was so incredibly fun to make! i have been wanting to do a little “everything i’ve done in a year” type post for a while, and this felt like the perfect opportunity.

this year has been a doozy—from 2 AP art portfolios, graduating high school, becoming an adult, starting college, and learning how to manage school and a business… i have grown so much as a person.

i am very grateful for each and every one of you. i honestly can’t even try to wrap my head around the fact that there are almost 60,000 people watching my journey… you are all incredible.

i don’t really know what to say besides thank you, thank you, thank you. i am so grateful to have strong backbone made up of my friends and family—if you are reading this and fall into that category, please know i love and appreciate you so so much, your support means the world to me.

please feel free to ask any questions or reach of if needed—you are amazing 🫶💞

with love,

ayla kaltenecker
