This is for the Dirty South. The country folks. The Geechee folks. My hood folks. My ghetto folks.

We didn’t always have new.
We had hand-me-downs, pressed seams, good shoes and nerve.
Put that suit on and suddenly poverty couldn’t tell you shit.

That’s the part people miss.

Ghetto was never the absence of beauty.
Ghetto was beauty surviving without permission.

They called it country because they couldn’t explain it.
Called it tacky because they couldn’t control it.
Called it ghetto until somebody richer copied it and called it luxury.

But I know where mine comes from.

My bloodline.
My people.
My dirt.
My survival.
My imagination.

You can recreate the garment.
You cannot recreate the memory inside of it.

And that is why Ghetto Couture will always hit different.

Because some people study culture.

I remember it. I embrace it. I embody it. I am the culture.

💜💚 STANDING WITH MY PAGEANT SISTER 💚💜

Today, I’m standing in solidarity with my sister queen, Ms. Barbados, Ms. Joy, and her call for women to support one another—not only when things are going well, but especially when someone may be struggling behind the scenes.

We may not share the same blood, but sisterhood can still mean showing up, checking in, listening, and reminding someone that they don’t have to carry everything alone. 👑🤍

Mental and emotional wellness matter. Sometimes a simple “How are you really doing?” can mean more than we realize.

So today, I’m answering the call. 💜

If you’re reading this, consider checking in on a sister, a friend, a fellow queen, or someone you haven’t spoken to in a while. And if you’re the one who needs someone to talk to, please know that reaching out does not make you a burden.

Your well-being matters. Your voice matters. YOU matter. 💚

I encourage my sisters and my community to repost this message, tag a sister, and help create a culture where we feel safe enough to say, “I need support.”

Ms. Joy, you are not standing alone. Your sister queens are standing with you. 👑💜💚

From one sister to another: I see you. I hear you. I’m here.
