📣 I didn't become a disruptor because of a diagnosis.

🤘It helped to finally serve up some context for why I'd spent so much of my life questioning the 💩 everyone else seemed perfectly happy to sit back and accept.

🤔 Why does that illogical rule exist? 🤷‍♀️

🖕Yeah, and who say's that's how it's got to be done?

🖕And who say's there's only one (vanilla) way to do things?

🤔 And what happens when the systems in place don't actually work for ALL the people who are expected to function inside it?

⬇️ When you go about asking those kinda questions, labels tend to follow...

✅ Difficult.
✅ Defiant.
✅ Stubborn.
✅ Argumentative.
✅ MF Trouble maker. 🖕😜🖕

Looking back though, through the lens of a late diagnosis, a lot of that all starts to land differently.

📣 Natural Born Disruptor™ is about a reclamation of self, of taking back the "disruptive" label you were maybe given as a kid in class.

🤔 Because what if your difference was encouraged instead of being constantly told that you were the problem?

I was never particularly good at pretending something made sense just because others weren't questioning it.

And now this Natural Born Disruptor (me) is getting ready for the next chapter.

🇦🇺 Aussie Punks.
🇳🇿 Kiwi Punks.

📣 Your roll-out is getting very f🤘cking close.

➡️ If you want first access on what's coming, get yourself into the Very Important Punk Clan before this weekend's email lands.

📣 Some of us weren't born to nod along.

📣 Some of us are NATURAL BORN DISRUPTORS.

🦍✨ Readjusting your knickers so the world knows you’re no longer here for its 💩!

Whether it’s a side-eye at stigma or side effects from meds, the collision of symptoms from being both peri/menopausal and ADHD... Sometimes life can feel like a seat you’ve got to keep shifting in until you can make it fit.

In Season 1, Ep. 7 (Part 1) of the @adhdperipunks podcast, we ripped into:

💊 The chaos of finding ADHD meds that work when your hormones are tanking

🤬 Giving stigma the punk salute it deserves

🩵 Why finding what works for YOU isn’t selfish — it’s survival

🎧 Season 2 drops Sept 1st — but this is your reminder to catch up on Season 1 now. Share this episode with your punk sisters who’ve had to fight to get their care taken seriously.

💌 Oh, and share this with your punk brothers too. Why? Because we believe it's going to take having all genders on this mission to get real support happening for ND women in peri/menopause.

🤘 Your story matters. Your voice matters. You f🤘kn matter.

🎉 One year in Yuendumu…

Yeah, I’m a little late with getting this share out, but hey, you’re in the wrong place if you’re expecting me to be on time.

➡️ I was initially apprehensive about moving to live on Walpiri country, Yuendumu.

🪃 It’s in the middle of the Australian outback, three hours' drive from pretty much anywhere.

🖤 Being Autistic means that I get really used to life being a certain way, and a massive part of it is that I can be really resistant to change… Or so I thought.

💛 Yuendumu is a place that has changed me, cracked me open, and taught me how to show up more and more as myself.

❤️ Turns out that I’m not so resistant to change as I thought I was. I just need more time to process change and get used to the idea.

🖤 I need to understand all the ins and outs, all the “what ifs.” There was a lot of discussion for a couple of months before moving here.

💛 Living in a community that doesn’t bat an eyelid at difference meant that I was able to discover myself through my newfound Autism diagnosis.

❤️ It’s enabled me to be back working 10 hours a week because I work for an organisation that has been 100% supportive of my neurodivergent needs.

🖤 They’ve understood when I’ve hit burnout and can’t work for a week, or post-COVID didn’t squeeze the life out of me, pressurising me to get back to work.

💛 Health and well-being are very much the front force of what they do here on community.

❤️ There’s a rhythm of life here that doesn’t ask you to perform or conform, a rarity in this capitalist world.

🖤 This past year has taught me more than the IG caption character limit here on allows, but I’ve sat in each meltdown, and discomfort, and I’ve been held by a community that hasn’t made me feel like I have to “fix” myself to fit in.

🖤💛❤️ And I’m grateful as hell to be here.

1 change of season in Yurntumu, 1 million billion camp dogs, a little bush tucker, an obsession with frogs and goannas, epic sunsets and moon rises, the start of learning a new (for me) language, a peek at an interesting art industry, an opportunity to scratch the surface of any learning or understanding of the present and past of so called Australia. Sometimes scary to be so far from the ocean, definitely new to be a kardiya, definitely blessed to be here on Warlpiri country with Warlpiri people.

This few months in so called Aus has been the first time since I was a child that I’ve been on, and first time ever living, on whenua that none of my whanaunga or close friends whakapapa to. Definitely has given me lots to think about from a wider perspective on privilege and intersectionality, other ways my voice can be used and the many times I’m learning my ears are better. Mā te wā, ngā mihinui koutou, ka kite ano.
