“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade wind in your sails.” ::
H.J Brown Junior couldn’t have said it better. Quotes like these litter my notebooks and rattle around in my head. My heart grows with stories of courage and adventure.

I like to think I try to follow this philosophy. It’s what brought me to Iceland, and it’s what I hope will bring me to the Arctic and far beyond too. At least for now, I’m spending every spare moment trying to enjoy the present and appreciate the little things in life. It’s crazy how much joy walking barefoot on some beach cliffs can bring you.

It feels like time is flying lately. There are times like this, frolicking through flowers, where time seems endless. Like it could stretch on the horizon forever. And other times where I can’t believe it’s the weekend already, I can’t believe I’ve graduated uni or moved out of home or gone on an arts residency exactly one year ago. Where did the time go? ::
It’s funny because every time I’m in nature, I feel time stopping, allowing me to appreciate everything. But in the hustle and bustle of life we tend to forget. All I can say is, thank goodness it’s the weekend. I’m planning to slow down and appreciate life more.

Feeling most alive whenever the sky turns a million different shades of gold

When I’m not working or making art, you can find me frolicking barefoot amongst fields of flowers. I’m patiently waiting for the sun to shine again in this temperamental spring weather...

Life happens in funny, unexpected ways. One year ago I was on an amazing international arts residency, and when I came back, I made a promise to myself that I would chase the things that made me feel alive. I tried to follow through - I quit my job, stopped spending money recklessly, made art. I became stricter with the guys I saw, this time in search of something real and meaningful. I wanted to earn money and make something of myself.
::
In the time between then and now, it’s been wild. I moved house and discovered that freelancing is incredibly hard, especially when your craft is 1 metre long dotwork pieces that take months to complete... there were many frustrating days and nights where I felt like giving up.
::
But the thing is, I felt it in my gut to keep on that path in the pursuit of something great. Fast forward to today and I’ve found a full time job I love where I can actually be creative, where I don’t feel like a sellout, where I can be truly free to utilise all the skills I know I have. I can do this to support my art, my passion, my joy - and feel incredibly proud of my career achievements at the same time.
::
More importantly - I’ve found a life partner. In the most unexpected of ways. And it’s scary, so incredibly scary, to feel that way (for a lot of reasons). But when life feels this good, how can what I have be bad? When you support each other no matter what, and can laugh every day. When you hear songs that make you think of each other and create grand plans to conquer the world. I feel completely, wholly me at this stage of my life. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
