Some homes leave an impression long before you ever step inside. Boxwood is one of them.

For Ellen Aldridge and her family, becoming its owners was completely unexpected.

“We always admired the house,” Ellen recalls. “We didn’t realize when we bought it how significant the house was locally,” she adds.

Built in 1843, Boxwood originally sat on a 10 acre farm stretching toward what is now WKU’s campus. When the Aldridges purchased the home in 2024, they quickly realized they weren’t simply renovating a historic house. They were helping preserve one of Bowling Green’s most treasured landmarks.

“It’s been a family project, and we’re enjoying sharing it with others,” Ellen says.

Follow along over the coming weeks as we share more of the story behind Boxwood 1843.
