Filmmaker Sav Rodgers (@savrodgersfilm) has built a career rooted not just in storytelling, but in community, identity, and cultural impact. Known for emotionally resonant work and a fearless approach to personal narrative, Rodgers continues to emerge as one of the most compelling voices in independent cinema—both on and off screen.

Rodgers first gained widespread attention with the acclaimed documentary “Chasing Chasing Amy,” a deeply personal exploration of queerness, fandom, and the lasting cultural imprint of Kevin Smith’s “Chasing Amy.” The film struck a chord on the festival circuit and beyond, praised for its vulnerability and sharp cultural insight. More than a documentary, the project positioned Rodgers as a filmmaker unafraid to interrogate pop culture while centering lived experience—an approach that has since defined his work.

Beyond filmmaking, Rodgers is widely recognized for his community advocacy, particularly within LGBTQ+ spaces, using film as a tool for dialogue, representation, and connection. Produced alongside acclaimed indie collaborators The Duplass Brothers (Creep, Baghead, Biosphere) and Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, Cloud Atlas) “Pancake Skank” arrives at a moment of transition, as Rodgers has recently relocated to Las Vegas, planting creative roots in a city increasingly positioning itself as a hub for bold, independent voices.

First sundance (and certainly not last) for the books!!! My time here exceeded my expectations not only did I get to live my cutest little apres ski dream and see a film I costume designed premiere but got to meet and connect with so many beautiful and talented filmmakers including one of my favorite directors and biggest inspirations. Beyond grateful for this opportunity and still on cloud 9 💕💕💕

Amelia started a film production company last year, wavy bones. It’s, of course, named after Gigi. Apparently dachshunds have wavy leg bones which we found out when Gigi was medically diagnosed as a Drama Queen a couple of years ago.

We went to Sundance! Amelia was the executive producer and UPM on a short film that premiered at the festival. It was amazing to celebrate her success and the first short from her production company, Wavy Bones, which is, of course, Gigi inspired. Shout out to @pistachiosjewelry for loaning me some gorgeous pieces ✨
