In old model Royal Enfield Bullets, ie in the Cast Iron engine models made before the late 1990s and early 2000s, The platinum point refers to the contact breaker point in the ignition system

What is a Platinum Point?

It's a mechanical switch in the contact breaker system of the ignition.

It’s made of a platinum alloy because platinum resists wear and corrosion from the constant sparking.

It opens and closes as the engine's cam rotates, controlling the timing of the ignition spark.

🔥 How it Works:

1. When the platinum points are closed, current flows through the ignition coil, creating a magnetic field.
2. As the cam rotates, the point opens, breaking the circuit.
3. This sudden break causes the magnetic field in the coil to collapse, producing a high voltage.
4. That voltage is sent to the spark plug to ignite the fuel-air mixture in the engine.

The correct gap and timing of the platinum point is crucial. If it's off, the engine may misfire, lose power, or have trouble starting.
