For some of the shots under the bridge, I experimented with a different editing style than I normally use—pulling more blues and cooler tones into the shadows to give everything a colder, moodier feel. The concrete, reflections from the wet ground, overcast sky, headlights, and colors from the cars all worked together way better than I expected. Especially that purple BMW sitting underneath the bridge…the cooler edit gave it almost this cinematic, late-night feeling even though these were taken during the day.

I’ve been trying to push myself lately to not make every meet look the same. Sometimes it’s easy to show up, photograph the cars, throw the usual edit on everything and call it finished. But I want each set to actually feel like the day it was taken. This one was dark, rainy and a little unpredictable, so I wanted the photos to carry that same energy.

And then you still had cars like that yellow Porsche completely cutting through all of those muted colors. From wide shots showing the whole car to getting down low for the wheels, details, badges and little compositions I probably would’ve walked past before, I’ve been trying to pay more attention to the smaller things that make each build different.

Definitely one of those meets where the conditions weren’t necessarily “perfect,” but that’s what made the photos interesting. The rain gave me something different to work with, and experimenting with the blues under the bridge made this set stand apart from some of my other recent work.

Still learning. Still experimenting. Still figuring out exactly what I want my style to look like. But that’s probably my favorite part about photography—every meet gives me another chance to try something I haven’t done before.

Rain, cars, wet pavement and a camera. Sometimes that’s all you need.
