POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Some of my favorite shots this week. Out with an injury - might as well go to class, keep the osmosis of learning technique going in my brain, be around my teammates and work on my photography!

I have a REALLY basic kit camera from Costco. It’s about as old as my kid so over 10 yrs. It’s an old Nikon D3300. I switched between an 18-55 lens (yes, I know 🙈) and my trusty nifty 50. Towards the windows, the natural light it fantastic but away from it, you’ve got a bright background that can overexpose and then fluorescent lights above. I can’t always get positioned where the natural light is on my subjects so this is always a fun little challenge.

I’ve been wanting to get into film. My dream camera is way out of my price point so I’ve been considering buying a Sony RX100 point and shoot. But, using this crappy set up, I feel like I have the settings really dialed in as much as I can and have taken some fun shots at a local concert that I was happy with.

I would like to wish my teammates and my professor happy hunting as they head into the final days leading into IBJJF Master Worlds and Jiu Jitsu Con in Vegas this coming week! I’ll be cheering from my living room this year 😭

GASSED -> GOLD in 8 weeks 🥇

I’m so hyped for my dawg @amiflash and how much progress he made in his conditioning over 8 weeks!

Adam had already been lifting heavy and rolling hard, but after gassing out in his last competition, conditioning was the one thing that he wanted to lock in for when he stepped on the mat again.

The only problem was, he was already doing a lot of conditioning in his workouts.

So what was missing?

We first looked to improving his breathing and CO2 tolerance with some daily breath holds and a focus on “nasal breathing” during cardio work and live rolls.

After a few weeks we moved into specifically driving up his “Repeat Sprint Ability”!

These workouts focused on multiple bouts of high intensity effort, and training his body to recover faster between those efforts and be ready to hit it hard again.

We used a “Carb Cycling” diet to fuel training both in the gym and on the mat and provide his body with the nutrients needed for recovery.

He made weight feeling fueled and ready to smash his bracket.

Adam’s discipline and consistency through all the challenging conditioning sessions and rounds on the mat paid off with a gold medal performance at the Sacramento Open 🥇

Amazing job, Adam!!

If you have questions about how to get brutally strong, pack on slabs of muscle, and never gas out on the mat…

Drop them in the comments below!
