To be in a room full of people you have known for nearly 30 years is an incredible way of marking time. The biggest gift of my friendship with @brooklynstani has been to learn how to be a better friend and comrade, to forgive our own shadow selves and know that our greatest weakness is also our greatest strength. That we are all imperfect beings loving and failing one another to the best of our capabilities. That we will only get through it with loving kindness, together. “You said you loved me and I commit to friction and the undertaking of the Pearl “ thank you for these words by June Jordan Roohi 💓🙌🏽💓 true community cannot be built without friction. Glad my Xenana brings together people on so many intersections. I am so deeply grateful y’all turn up and make so much magic together. @yashicadutt @monaeltahawy @pyaartothepeople @fariba_salma_alam @hragv @jencysekaranstudio @curativeprojects @rebe.chowd @prachigu @smkalita @kavitadas @__maraahmed @safiafatimi

This is harder than I thought. It’s NOT normal to have a Nazi in the Oval Office. Doge is the Gestapo. Wake up.

Join us today June 4th from 6 - 8 pm for a conversation with curator Federica Soletta and ESTAR(SER) editor D. Graham Burnett about “A BOX OF BIRDS,” the new exhibition of work by ESTAR(SER).

The Opening Gallery is pleased to announce A BOX OF BIRDS, a rare exhibition of artifacts and documentation associated with the Avis Tertia or “Order of the Third Bird.” Curated by Federica Soletta @fs2363 and running in conjunction with the release of a new, ten-year retrospective special publication by the research collective ESTAR(SER), this show brings together two installation pieces not before publicly accessible in New York City: the “Frye Trunk” (a portmanteau collation of historical attention-prosthetics and ephemera recently shown in Seattle and Boston); and the “Milcom Memory Box” (previously only available by private appointment at the American Academy of Arts and Letters, in upper Manhattan). Other important holdings from the “W-Cache” repository of ESTAR(SER) will also be on display. For related information about a number of recently deaccessioned items that may be available to interested parties, please contact: Gallucci Tull, Ltd, (Los Angeles).

*ANOTHER HUGE MILESTONE ALERT!

The first-ever @southasianhouse made quite the splash at @tribeca last week, and every one of our FIVE pop-up events was filled to capacity with filmmakers, artists, and well-wishers. Thanks to everyone who showed up to support!

I want to especially thank my kick-ass panel of South Asian content creators for a thirsty global audience: @rajivmaikhuri (producer), @aizzahfatima (writer/actor/producer/director), @punkudge (DOP turning director), and @ankurbhatia (actor/producer). You all killed it and make us so proud to be in your orbits.

Finally, our incredible SAH team: @rohimirzapandya (my co-producer-in-crime) @monikavsamtani & @kirtana_banskota. We will continue to build this house together!

And the kind & welcoming folks at #Tribeca…we hope we made you proud and we plan to see you again next year!!!

**Next stop: @loveliff for the European Premiere of our film @callmedancermovie

Kochi with this jing-bang has been nothing short of magical! It’s really no wonder #Kerala is called “God’s Own Country!” #kochibiennale #thatsawrap🎬

During a break in the well-attended and scintillating conversations at the #iaacliteraryfestival, I walked uptown from Chelsea in #NewYork to my former office building on 3 Park Avenue. I noticed a number of heartening changes along the way. The new blue and yellow hybrid buses, run by the #mta looked spiffy and were a definite improvement over the old white buses that were on the roads earlier. There was much more colour and charm that was visible - murals, flowers, floral arrangements and sculptures- that added to the charisma and the uniqueness of the Big Apple. The murals by Kobra were especially eye-catching. Thank you @iaacny enabling me to with you all! As my friends know by now, I too ❤️NYC ! @kobrastreetart @suman.nyc

We work tirelessly to raise funds to support Britons School and the children and teachers there. With your help we are starting to see a brighter future for everyone. We want to thank you for your continued support this year as without you this could not happen ❤️

We appreciate any support you can continue to give whether that’s a small teacher donation (link in the bio), or buying one of our stunning Kenyan hand made gifts. Let’s continue to lift others up, not just for them, but for a brighter future for us all.

My friends who braved traveling to Mombasa - thank you. Another arrives next week.

I told the management of my apartment complex to rename it “Brooklyn” lol.

Who else is coming?!?
