POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

For The Love of The Frame /
Squaring up.

Lately, I’ve been focused putting language to my work, to being able to verbalize what I’m trying to say photographically and how I’m trying to say it. I’m grateful to be engaged in this way, to trying to articulate purpose and intention as I continue to develop and mature as a practitioner.

I’m also grateful for those moments when life and fellowship remind me to never lose sight of the essential joy that photography brings me; to be reminded of the moments before purpose and intention, the moments of delightful compulsion where I wanted to experience making an image a certain way.

Here are a few images made over the last few years. Shout out to my brother @_zeamado for reminding me how much I enjoy square format photography and a eternal shout out to @dirtykics, whose incredible work first encouraged me to give 6x6 a try.

Every day we show up is another opportunity to grow, serve, and get better. Remember success isn’t built in one big moment, it’s built in the small things we do consistently. #herbalife4life

Polly Johnson.
Betsey Gibson.

Brave Black and Afro-Indigenous women who carried history forward in the shadows.

155 years after Polly’s death, their story will be shared at the Oscar-Qualifying Pan African Film Festival at the Culver Theater in LA.

Thank you @paffnow for recognizing their extraordinary lives, and to the Sweet Freedom team who worked so hard to carry their story to the screen.
