It's been two weeks since the @nwrallyassociation Rallycross Fest at @dirtfishrally so I should probably make a post about how this epic weekend went for me.

My weekend started on Friday with tech inspection and a birthday dinner with good buddy @pitbulldrifter. Race day 1 started out a little rocky with me hitting 3 cones between run 1 and 2 on a very technical course. Run 3 was clean, and I finished the day sitting in 4th place. Race day 2 was pretty good, all things considered. I ran clean on all my runs but with a bit more of an open course lending itself to more powerful cars. Some of the other competitors ran away from me and dropped me from 4th to 6th. All in all, I can't complain too much about my weekend with finishing 6th out of 28 competitors.

With all that said, Rallycross Fest is always a fun time no matter what place one finishes. I can't wait to get back out there again next year with the new Celica rally car! Until next time DirtFish!

Native Hawaiians carry forward the tradition of lei making in the Pacific Northwest using foraged and local plants

By Cris Romento @dearalohafilm - https://iexaminer.org/native-hawaiians-carry-forward-the-tradition-of-lei-making-in-the-pacific-northwest-using-foraged-and-local-plants/

🌸

It’s a cold day in Seattle, the kind where the wind carries the scent of pine and wet leaves. Thin branches sag under the weight of occasional rain, droplets shimmering whenever the sun slips through the sky’s thick gray veil.

Here, in her secret location, Native Hawaiian Tanya Jose is foraging for a lei. She moves through the brush in a puffer jacket and hoodie, her eyes trained to find foliage by decades of experience.

“We only take what we need, not the whole branch,” she says. “That’s how I was taught.”

The forest here carries a different story than the lush tropics of the Hawaiian Islands. Still, the practice is the same. With her scissors and brown bag in hand, Jose carefully gathers periwinkle, cedar, Japanese maple, moss, even wheat.

Mahalo for every DM, email, comment, share, meeting, call, Zoom, participation, document, pau hana, conversation, question, consult, voice message—you get the idea. We’re so grateful for every single act of aloha. We can’t wait for you to see what 2026 has in store. But first, reflecting on the hard work in 2025 and giving big mahalos to you all 💚

P.S. We have so many folks to thank this year that Instagram won’t let us tag them all! (20-tag limit 🥲) So sorry to those without a tag!

Take only what you need—that’s the difference. Just because you can take a double jump doesn’t mean you should. Wise words from Uncle John of @hawaiiancheckers.
