I am thrilled to announce the completion of my latest film, For Your Own Good (2026). Within the film I employ dystopian themes and my fascination with science fiction to dissect the hidden mechanisms of authority and control. The film investigates how corporate “care” acts as a form of coercion, critiquing how neoliberal systems enforce conformity and productivity under the guise of well-being. I want to thank all my amazing collaborators; we worked extremely hard to ensure every detail of this 22-minute feature received every ounce of love. Voor @artsenzondergrenzen 4 vrouwen: ‘Sadia uit Burkina Faso, Anny uit Congo, Shamila uit Afghanistan en Maha uit Gaza’ delen hun verhalen via een brief die wordt voorgelezen door Annemarie Lekkerkerker, Donna Senders, Nargis Hamdard, Niny Ezinga. Ik geef toe, ik werd ook emotioneel op set en vond het moeilijk om de verhalen te horen van deze vrouwen, maar hun verhalen horen en erover te praten is niks vergeleken met wat de vrouwen daar meemaken. Het is hun realiteit en elke dag is het overleven. Ik hoop dat dit project deze vrouwen zal helpen en bewustzijn zal creëren over de verschrikkelijke situaties in deze landen, maar ook andere landen waar vrouwen ook onveilig zijn, leven in oorlog en armoede, geen toegang hebben tot zorg en te maken heb met seksueel geweld. Al deze vrouwen en meisjes hebben net zoveel recht om in veiligheid en vrijheid te leven als wij hier. Volg en steun @artsenzondergrenzen. Artsen zonder Grenzen (MSF) biedt wereldwijd medische noodhulp in crisissituaties, zoals oorlogen, epidemieën, natuurrampen en bij gebrek aan gezondheidszorg. Ik heb geen woorden meer voor wat er allemaal gebeurt in deze wereld. Zoals velen, voel ik me boos, verdrietig en machteloos. Maar ik ben dankbaar dat ik een steentje heb mogen bijdragen hieraan. Een belangrijke en een betekenisvolle project wat dichtbij mijn hart ligt. Dank jullie wel @artsenzondergrenzen voor jullie vertrouwen. Maybe you’ve already spotted my edit on TV this week for @legerdesheils (Dutch Salvation Army). First of all, I’m super happy with the end result, it’s almost like a short film. I got to work with a crazy fun team. The edit has several interesting elements. Overall, we definitely wanted to keep a certain calmness, so that you can sympathise properly. At the beginning, we got the repetitiveness of the daily routine, which is a slightly more rhythmic bit and also just a bit faster, just like the part where she struggles zipping up her red dress. Also, the little spider could definitely not be missing from the edit, which the DOP had managed to catch spontaneously on set. Anyway, I always like it when there are nice coincidences in the take.
