February 9th. ☕️
Rachel & Joe

They sat together in the café
Worlds apart
Painted in gray
Bored
Phones in hand
Disconnected
Obligated
Too many years behind them
Her hands were still young
His were wrinkled
Ten years between them
Twenty years shared
She yearned for something different
He kept fighting for her attentions
Not in the right ways
She thought of leaving
But probably wouldn’t
Had to think of the children
It was easier
Less scary
To stay
And so it was
They lived their cycle
Wanting more
Moments recycled
In the end
They lived in bane
Never changing
Both too afraid.
