Friends, meet our gentle snow king, Casper 🤍 .

Casper arrived to West LA severely injured with deep penetrating puncture /bite wounds on his abdomen and in desperate need of medical care. It appears Casper had humans in his life but they were overwhelmed by taking on more responsibilities they could handle with other cats in their care and could not properly tend to Casper’s needs. They were desperate and I believe loved him. They did the responsible thing by allowing him to find a chance a second chance at life.
Casper is a gentle soul and deserves to be cared for with dignity and compassion..he deserves to be safe and indoors where he’ll not face danger like he once escaped…His beauty shines loudly but his spirit barely registers a whisper..Our snow king is learning to feel safe and comfortable on his journey to healing so a super responsible adopter OR rescue will understand his tender heart is guiding him and it’ll take patience and a gentle hand to get him to a place where he’ll shine.
Please share responsibly and safely .. Casper has been away from other cats healing and should not be in a home with dogs.

⚠️UPDATE: Huchu continues to wait for her special humans at WEST LA but we were so discouraged citizens came to West LA specifically for an older cat (LIKE HUCHU) to be an outside mouser. Are we that disconnected as a community that we see so little value in the welfare of both the cat AND the mice that we think it’s totally fine to dump an older cat- with slower reflexes and possible kidney disease outside because THIS is ok? How about help your neighbor clean their home OR find a suitable working cat? I’m tired of normalizing this behavior. DO BETTER PEOPLE.

Friends, we know this story ALL too well. A loving devoted senior unceremoniously dumped onto someone else after years of dedication and loyalty to her person only to be discarded at a shelter a short time later.
Meet Granny Huchu. 11 years young and we hope to find her a safe and responsible place to land with access to SENIOR SUPPORTIVE CARE. Medical Care that means you’re offering her the opportunity to live out her best years free of stress on her spirit that has already been battered from her abandonment. Proactive routine care means she gets a chance at renewed health and wellness

PLEASE be advised medical does lean in the direction of kidney/endocrine issues . She’s definitely a bit weathered with an unthrifty exterior ajd underweight but holy 💩is she just the most LOVING creature you’ve ever encountered. She also eats like a wolverine- no judgment it’s likely a sign of what’s going on.
Her owner notes are f’n GLOWING which makes her all the more special.
We already love her something fierce and I know this community will shower her with all the support, love, and prayers and good wishes because you all deliver each and every time.
Let’s do this! Huchu deserves the world. 🙏🏼

Friends, we NEED your help once again 🙏🏼 Kitty (aka Dot) is in desperate need of a safe and responsible exit. Kitty is DIABETIC and her condition cannot be managed in a shelter environment . Kitty requires access to necessary critical care of insulin injections every 12 hrs. Unfortunately, Kitty has been flipped to the euthanasia list and is URGENT. She is scheduled to die on Sunday Sept 27th
Kitty is completely lost , confused and allowing her fear to overtake her. She’s showing signs of distress & makes administering her meds a challenge. It’s not hard to see Kitty is clearly conflicted ..on the one hand fiercely protective of her personal wellbeing but desperately wants to feel safe & allow herself to be vulnerable & feel loved. Kitty has been thrown for a complete loop- her whole world has been turned upside down with the arrest of her current owner & removed from the home by animal control & booked as evidence because authorities assumed she was abandoned. However, it seems Kitty’s owner did provide for her care and had a medical caretaker tending to her condition by administering her insulin in the home. Due to the arrest , the “official” microchip owner immediately relinquished Kitty refusing to take her into their care and that made her available immediately without a hold.
PLEASE help us find a safe and responsible landing spot for Kitty..she absolutely needs supportive medical care & will not make it out alive if we cannot find a rescue or an amazing human to take responsibility for her care.
All the things…please share, offer to foster (experienced) or pledge!

🥳MISFIT was privately adopted on Friday . He is safe and out of the shelter.
His mom @paigeksims is sharing his wellness journey while she navigates life with a special ginger boy like Misfit . He went to the vet today and his mom will update the community on her page..give her a follow and mention you’re from the misfit fan club. They’ll need all the love, support and encouragement to get him to a good place.

Please help us get Misfit seen and shared.
Medical suspects neurological issues are reason for his ataxia, uncoordinated movement and incontinence. Misfit has waited so long, and so patiently, praying for an amazing opportunity to find good humans willing to take him into their care. But so far Misfit has watched his friends find their people while he heads back alone into his cardboard palace all by himself in a cold, stressful &
spirit breaking shelter environment without the slightest bit of hope he’ll get his chance. It’s not humane he wait so long in a steel kennel while his muscles atrophy and he weakens. PLEASE help us find a reputable and responsible landing for Misfit..he’s so deserving of a second chance🙏🏼

Misfit (A2280218) has watched the summer days slip away as we gently ease into fall 🍁….the seasons are changing and our beautiful boy deserves to experience those seasons with amazing humans that will commit to our special boy.
Medical believes his issues revolve around neurological challenges and the shelter is not a place where he’d be afforded access to medical care and treatment…PLEASE help us find responsible placement for this unicorn who truly just wants to live and love 💕…
Misfit is MAJOR MEDICAL and along with the unsteady mobility, he is incontinent. This will take the work of a village …good thing we know one 🙏🏼

🥳🥳UPDATE: ADOPTED 🥳🥳

Friends, Cricket has completed URI treatment and will soon be flipped to the urgent list…AKA the yellow brick road to the euthanasia list.
If you’re only meeting Cricket for the first time, his bite incident (LEVEL 3) involved his placement into the carrier when he was being surrendered. His initial reason for relinquishment is aggressive behavior towards a child (scratch) whereby the child was without adult supervision.
Once again to remind everyone, when the city is involved, the bite report is a huge burden and one where behavior and bite disclosure forms must be signed. Please share responsibly- please don’t dismiss the magnitude of Cricket’s story…it’s important we find him an experienced, savvy, RESPONSIBLE pit crew in his corner in order for him to live the life he was meant to- one with safety, dignity , respect and kindness.

Friends, we are humbly coming to our community to uplift and surround this sweet boy Misfit (Male/neutered/ 1.5 yrs old) with love & support because he DESERVES to live a quality life with dignity & supportive medical care and admiration for his courageous spirit he shows us daily that he wants to live!
MISFIT desperately needs our help 🙏🏼🙏🏼
We need to find him a safe & resourceful & responsible avenue to gain access to medical care he does not have the ability to get in a shelter environment.
The concerning symptoms appear NEUROLOGICAL (Mild CH has been suggested) but there’s no official diagnosis. What has been observed AND why he needs help..
1. Wobbly, Balance Loss, Uncoordinated Movements, Unsteady, Swaying, Blank stare
2. Incontinence
3. No history of seizure activity, vomiting

Misfit has been at WEST LA for 2 months- he’s been in a “spacious ” kennel because larger might cause disorientation or injury but he needs a safe avenue for exit. He has a great appetite, wants to engage, is active, mobile and immediately springs out of his Home Depot box and LOVES to love- to give and receive it. Misfit loves visits ❤️ He’s a precious boy and such an endearing soul. He’s not physically declined and we want to do this right for him- the best humans need to step up to deal with his medical concerns AND we hope to find him an endgame the only way we can…which is together 🙏🏼

OFFICIALLY released from bite quarantine.
🏥 -MEDICAL: currently under treatment for a wicked upper respiratory infection.

Cricket has officially been released from BQ but the work has just begun.
Cricket is on URGENT alert and will be escalated to the euthanasia list if we do not find this young man a safe and responsible place to land.
Cricket was relinquished for inappropriate aggressive behavior (scratched) towards a child left unsupervised and engaging in rough style play. His bite incident was reported at the time he was placed inside the carrier to be surrendered to West LA.
Cricket needs an experienced, cat savvy pit crew in his corner. Humans that will commit to him & place him in safe hands. Cricket deserves an opportunity to be welcomed back into a family that will never forget he needs as much support as a child. Neither one is capable of making adult human decisions and he shouldn’t suffer those consequences based on humans letting him down.
Cricket is currently under treatment for an upper respiratory and I’m allowing him space to heal. However, we are on a time crunch and need him to be seen .
Cricket has shown he’s receptive to engaging under these stressful circumstances but make no mistake his response to a stressor in the home & environment resulted in his needing to be removed from the home. Cricket deserves a good place to decompress and heal…once physically he’s ready, hopefully he’ll be on board putting the pieces back together of a broken heart. He needs good people on his team and we only ask to share SAFELY AND RESPONSIBLY🙏🏼

Friends , a soft rollout for Cricket, who is currently serving his bite quarantine time at the shelter.
OFFICIAL release date Mon Aug 24th.

The cat team advocates for safe and effective and responsible platforming of our dear felon because we do not dismiss the seriousness of the incident and why Cricket is here with us at the shelter.

REASON FOR RELINQUISHMENT: Unsafe behavior with a child (scratched)

Prior owner relayed the child in the home was exhibiting rough style inappropriate activity towards Cricket while unsupervised.
Personally, the cat and child are SAFER if they no longer share the same home. That’s not why Cricket is in BQ. When he was placed inside (use your own judgement) the carrier to be taken immediately to the shelter , Cricket inflicted bites on the hand of an adult in the home.
The incident has been recorded as LEVEL 3.

So…here we are. Cricket will be URGENT ALERTED which is the precursor to EUTH LISTED. We’re shooting for an exit where he’s still breathing. 🙏🏼
We don’t gain full access to Cricket until his release but we see incredibly promising signs of safe engagement. Cricket appears to be a bit overwhelmed in his current circumstances but we believe with EXPERIENCED handling and the savvy of identifying body language and what may ultimately trigger any fearful response behaviors, we hope to find Cricket a responsible landing place to begin his journey to becoming once again a valued member of the family who is treated with dignity and respect and kindness and compassion and SAFETY.
We hate the child may be left with a traumatizing experience from sharing space with Cricket and cats but until everyone is on the same page - it is safest the cat is no longer in their home. It’s not a cat’s responsibility to police the child’s behavior or tolerate it.

Here’s what we do..let’s do this together and do it right. SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE sharing only.
Cricket needs REPUTABLE RESPONSIBLE humans in his corner.. let’s GO!
