“The Self is not a Single Body” (my two-person exhibition with Amy Fichter) opens TODAY at UNI Gallery. Without any degree of amplification or hyperbole, exhibiting alongside my mentor and dear friend, Amy, is and will forever be one of the great highlights of my career. Amy has been an incredibly influential figure in my life as an artist, in my instructional endeavors, and beyond. She has pushed me to seek answers through constant and careful observation, encouraged me to find more effective ways of communicating visually, given me the space to explore instructing when it was still just a small desire, shown me that an artist is not confined to any one medium they employ, inspired me to hold softness for people in everything I do, and lead by example in being true to your own nature. Not to mention - and I say this without intended offense but complete conviction - Amy is perhaps one of the greatest artists (if not the greatest) I know. She is a master of so many mediums, but the manner in which she communicates form and complicated spaces is truly remarkable. When you check out her work in person — and seriously, please don’t miss this opportunity — you will understand immediately and with certainty what I mean. It is my honor to be sharing the gallery walls with decades of her work.

This exhibition will be on view until September 18th. Amy and I will be returning to Cedar Falls on that evening for the closing reception, during which we will be delivering artist talks.
•
Immense thanks to Noah Doley for connecting me to and supporting me in this opportunity, and thanks also to Laura Gleissner, who has been an outstanding gallery director and liaison. The University of Northern Iowa really is so special.

Went out in style this weekend graduating from UW-Stout. It's been quite the ride! Thanks to all my awesome friends and family who made it out to hang out and who helped me truly rock it in college!

Wrapped up with a banger of an Industrial Design Senior Show, won the Samuel E. Wood Award for leadership, snagged the IDSA Merit Award, and left with the highest academic honors. Bittersweet for sure but just as exciting to keep showin' 'em watcha got!

How it started.
__
I believe people are put into, when you need them most.
__
Tara is one of those people.
__
I originally found @1stphorm through @andyfrisella and his original podcast MFCEOPROJECT now know as the REALAF.
__
After starting the @crossfit235 and dropping out of college Tara is the one who sent me the legionnaire application and said “you would be great at this! you should sign up. “
__
Almost 4 years later of being a legionnaire, I was offered the opportunity to come work at headquarters. I had no clue what the job was, or what I was going to be making (not joking) but I didn’t need to know. I had faith and trust in what these people stood for.
__
Now there have been many moments, lots of relationships built, and a lot of hard work put in throughout these years, but at the end of the day @tara_123photo is the one individual that sparked the flam of what I am doing today.
__
I am very thankful to have her in my life and call a genuinely great friend.
__
No matter what time passes, we can pick right back up from where we left off.
__
As Individuals, we can win battles, but it takes a team to win wars.
__
I strive to surround myself with good people who I want to see win just as much as I want to.
__
Thank you @tara_123photo for always being a great Human and one of those people in my life! It was awesome to have the opportunity to show you around and get a great workout in this weekend.
__
Keep kicking ass, and being a positive light in the life’s of those you surround yourself with.
