Say hello to the one and only Amy Huckaby, the first of the writers who have joined us in Costa Rica for our Episodic Lab this year. We’ve loved getting to know her as she continues her prolific writing journey, and hope you do too!

“I didn’t know I could be a writer. I honestly had no idea it was an option. I was a young girl who liked movies, TV, and plays and everyone around me said one thing— you should be an actress! It’s hilarious in retrospect since I was always writing stories, directing things of my own, and even wrote my sixth grade school play. Writing was where I felt like the world made sense, where I felt connected to humanity, where I felt like I had a voice. But still, I didn’t know I could do it. I moved to LA fresh out of drama school determined to be the next Meryl Streep. It’s interesting to think about. I wanted to use my voice so badly but I thought the only way I could do that was to be part of someone else’s story. I look back on it and wonder what that was about— I think I keep writing so I can figure it out one day.”
