Well we had a strike for most of the year so there’s not much of an audition graveyard, but here’s arguably my favorite moment of 2023.

Grateful for another year of good times and goofy friends. They get me through. And grateful for nysnc. Always.

This new song by my friend @amyjaymusic has really stuck with me recently: what do I know about being a mother? Or about trying to weave dance and motherhood together in a way that feels sustainable and right? Some days I feel I know things; other days I lament the things I didn’t know how to handle. All of the days I stumblingly seek to follow the perfect parent, the One who knows Hazel’s heart and mine the best.

y’all, over the years i have prided myself on the number of lovely, thoughtful notes i have written to friends (casual public brag✌️). so when a new york bestie suggested we be pen pals, i was like “oh yeah, i got this.”

i do not got this.
.
I have honestly been a terrible pen pal—with far too long of delays between letters. one excuse was i don’t currently own any cute stationary (so i made my own, see first pic).
.
but my most recent letter was the most epic failure yet. I had finally written a letter (YAY!), put it in an envelope, and stamped it (doing so well!). and then… i put it in whichever tote i was using as a purse that week and promptly forgot about it.
.
until claire’s milk spilled in said tote and drenched the letter.
.
but it was already stamped! and i was so far behind in writing! so i mailed it anyhow.
.
said bestie dutifully and carefully plied it open upon arrival (see pics 3-4). after understanding 80% if the content (pretty amazing!) she left it on her nightstand to finish deciphering later.
.
only to have her dog rip it to shreds (pic 5) LOL BECAUSE IT STILL SMELLED LIKE MILK. who could blame him. (also, i love that you see him eyeing and smelling the letter in pic 3-4, definite foreshadowing.)
.
alright, that’s the end of my story. still chuckling about it and have made myself some fun stationary to hopefully get back on the letter-writing train. 💙
