So I guess the secret is outโ€ฆ I can lead. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ It was never really a secret. I just donโ€™t usually choose to lead. I actually learned to lead because I wanted to become a better followโ€”and along the way, I realized how much goes into being a good lead. Youโ€™re thinking about connection, safety, timing, musicality, making sure your partner feels comfortableโ€ฆ all while trying to figure out what the heck your own body is doing. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And then thereโ€™s meโ€ฆ with approximately 29 different genres of dance living in my head at any given moment. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ We might start with bachata and suddenly my brain goes: โ€œWaitโ€ฆ that was a zouk move.โ€ โ€œOh! That felt like hustle.โ€ โ€œDid I just put some hip-hop in there?โ€ And somehowโ€ฆ it works. ๐Ÿ˜‚ What I love about this video is that she switches with me. We get to play with both roles, listen to each other, and just enjoy the dance. No pressure to stay in one box or one role the whole time. Thatโ€™s probably the best representation of how I see dance these days. Iโ€™m not trying to fit neatly into one genreโ€”or even one role. Iโ€™m just an artist finding my way through movement, music, connection, and whatever my dance brain comes up with next. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพ So yesโ€ฆ I can lead. But Iโ€™m still very happy when someone says, โ€œMy turn.โ€ ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™Œ
