Simmer pots are a great way to make your house smell amazing without chemical fragrances or cleaners.

Since this weekend is the solstice and beginning of Yule, I decided to make a Yule themed crock pot simmer pot!

🌲 Evergreen = protection + enduring life
🍊 Orange = returning sun
🪵 Cinnamon = prosperity + warmth
⭐️ Star anise = the turning Wheel of the Year
❤️ Red = life force

Happy solstice!

A little reminder that a lot of your Christmas traditions… are actually witchcraft 💫 🤷🏻‍♀️ 🌲

Long before Christmas existed, ancient cultures marked the shift from dark to light, honored the returning sun, and decorated their homes with symbols of protection, renewal, and hope.

I made this Yule wreath in that same spirit — grounding, beautiful, and full of meaning:

🌲 Pine for protection + evergreen life
🍊 Orange for the returning sun and brighter days ahead
👉 make your own by slicing an orange 1/8” thick, pat dry, bake at 200° for 3 ish hours, turning occasionally. Let sit out overnight if not totally dry out of the oven. House smells amazing, too!
🪵 Cinnamon for warmth, prosperity, and good fortune
⭐ Star anise for guidance + the turning of the seasonal wheel
❤️ Red for life force, vitality, and gratitude
👉 I used plastic beads
✨ Gold for illumination + the rebirth of the sun
👉 I used gold wire to string it all together

Easy to get the ingredients, easy to make, and cozy enough to last the season.

What “new Yule” decor do you have?

So… we did a thing.

This week has been crazy with the moving and painting that we want to do. So far… we have 1 room almost done 😂

Since I want to do a bunch of updates to this townhouse and make it my (our) own, I created @amyrenovates to document my hopefully successful attempts at doing those renovations all by myself. Thank the gods for Google and YouTube 😉

Stay tuned for the fun and probably not-so-fun projects that will surely never end!
